Zana Deux Problem
Kindof what I was thinking as well, and for me (with solder iron close by) amps with simple-looking problems like this look like a steal. I'll watch for a better price once I get closer to getting a ZD!

Saturday afternoon update. Currently have this setup: laptop -> rDac -> Bottlehead Foreplay with EH 12AU7 -> Classe CAV-150. Nice. Definitely not laid back. An interesting honestly with the rDac and tubes.- Zana Deux Problem
That's what I thought: older model with some odd problems...priced too high... Thank you!- And now what did you do TODAY?
Last minute prep for Thanksgiving at the bhjazz house. First time for us, as normally we would be at my sister's or in-law's places. Small group expected, just five including myself and my lovely wife. Wrote out a schedule to make sure I don't miss much! Jazz is on the speakers, vodka in the freezer and turkeys awaiting their final destination. Happy Thanksgiving to all my Head Case buddies. Have a great day!- Zana Deux Problem
Currently there is this on the 'gon. $1650 with some operational problems that I'm sure would be easy to fix. I need to finish a few DIY projects first, but god damn this looks like a good deal. Does that seem like a good price? Gah! Why am I asking? MAKE IT GO AWAY!!!- What are you drinking now, pt 2.
Just polished off a post-dinner Manhattan. Ah. Hey Al, that Montebruno looks wonderful!- Happy Birthday emelius!
Happy Belated Birthday! Hope you had (or possibly still having) a great day of celebration!- Post the last thing you bought!

Because of a muscleman show?- InnerFidelity in NY Times ... briefly. :)
Ballzasteel, Tyll! Excellent. "Beats have redefined the lowly headphone." Oh come on. Go, Tyll!- And now what did you do TODAY?
Isn't that weird? I completely understand what you're saying. The creation is better than the maintenance!- What are you drinking now, pt 2.
Made a strange brew tonight. Was looking at a rum swizzle recipe and decided I didn't want to include ginger ale, so made it this way instead: 2 oz. dark Rum 1 splash lemon juice 1/2 oz Cointreau 1 ice cube Once the ice melted down a bit, it tasted like a mellow Scotch. I know, not really, right? But close. Maybe I've already had too much.- And now what did you do TODAY?
Got in to a pissing match with my stupid homeowner's association. We're not even fully incorporated and people are already choosing sides. The lazy goodfornothing microsoft employee is siding with the "queen of the neighborhood", but that's because she mows his lawn when he travels. Asslicker. The queen is not even on the board, yet she tasks herself with getting bids on landscaping. W. T. F. I think I'll get drunk, paint my house camouflage and piss from the roof while screaming obscenities.- HBD JP11801!
Happy BDay, JP. Hope it's a great one!- Music & the Brain
Very cool. I'd actually install iTunes to get these. The music/brain link is completely fascinating to me. Last decent book I read was Musicophilia by Oliver Sacks. The first half of the book is quite different than the second half, but both are good. I caught the end of the interview with Gabby Giffords within the last week. Her speech patterns are coming along, but most of her sentences are single words. The words are an interesting amalgamation of the thoughts of the sentence she is trying to say. Near the end of the interview, though, there is a scene with one of her therapists playing guitar and Gabby singing along, knowing all the words, and able to phrase the song correctly. The power of music is deep in the brain, no doubt. Fascinating.- Arcam rDac
Update from work. Currently am connected to laptop using USB out. Using DH Labs cables to a MIllet Starving Student and ATH-ESW9s. Nice combination. I keep finding how sweet the rDac is with midrange and voices. The Imelda May tune Lilac Wine on Jeff Beck's Emotion and Commotion revealed some wonderfully musical tension through the song. As well as her voice. Super nice. Right now I've switched off to a weird catch-all directory of mp3s and flacs. Leftfield's Leftism is pulsing. U2's Pride was so clearly recorded in the studio. Most tunes are revealed in a clean way, while being just a touch laid back with this combination. These tubes might be just a bit laid back for the rDac, but the output is tricky: as soon as I think I get a read on it, another song comes on which is bright and definitely not laid back. Weird. Good times for a Friday. I'm swamped with work. At least I can rock on.- And now what did you do TODAY?
Great news, Shelly. One day at a time is all you should be asked to do. You can do it! And Wayne...WOW! That's amazing.- And now what did you do TODAY?
Wasted a few hours trying to build a bracket which would mount my cable modem in my just-wired-up network box. The modem is 8 1/4" wide, the rack has holes at 6" apart with one at 3/4" from the wall, and the modem has mounting points which are 4" apart. I'd call that triple offset. The first two times I was *completely* sure it was correct. Right. I'll blame the afternoon drinks on two failures.- Happy Birthday Dinny!
Happy Birthday Dinny Dinsmore! Hope it's a great one!- slower forum
If only. BBall would rock if it were outside! (as long as the weather held out...)- What are you listening to Part the Third
Al, You would really love KPLU up here in Seattle. It's an NPR station. Saturday and Sunday night is the "All Blues" show, and I hear those bands all the time. They do have some web streaming. Try KPLU.org. If you get John Kessler (the regular host) you're in luck. Most of his nights are good, and some are really great. 6-12pm. As for me, the new rDac is on and quite liquid tonight. Listening to- Happy Birthday Dreadhead!
Chris, sorry to hear this. Life has weird timing and rules all it's own. We're thinking of you.- What are you drinking now, pt 2.
Fuck it with scalpel precision. I'll head downstairs and toast that right now.
