    Any hockey fans?

As much as I hate the Leafs when they're playing good hockey (old Montreal-Toronto rivalry ), it's sad to see them lose like that because the fans in Toronto are exceptionnal and they deserve a good team.

    Any hockey fans?

Sad but true... For the price of a live hockey game, I can go to 4-5 music shows in small venues that I'm almost sure will be good compared to a hockey game that can be very boring (i.e. against New Jersey Devils ). To make it even worse, they sell the beer 9$ at the Bell Centre. With that said, the arena was sold out for every game in the last couple of years and it's actually hard to even find a ticket.
  3. Damn, I love hockey. Even more when the Canadiens are winning like this season. Seriously, I think no other sport beats hockey on television. Fast action, solid physical contacts, intelligent plays, etc. I don't understand why you Americans don't love it as we do in Canada. Football rules, but why the hell is baseball more popular than hockey? Watching baseball on TV is as exciting as watching plants grow... So, any hockey fans out there?

    Way to go Head-Fi

I've been looking forever for an extension like that. No more sponsors.

    Way to go Head-Fi

It doesn't change anything for me and I'm viewing the site on a 13" Macbook screen. I guess my brain kind of filters the ads and I focus on the content alone. Still, I prefer how it looked before, but I can understand why they changed it for now.
  6. For the 300$ it cost him, this is quite a steal. I didn't have time (or was too absorbed by the PS1) to give a fair listen to these, but from the short time I spent with it, this is really the poor man's HP2. Everything that's good about the HP2 is there, but it misses some of the clarity and sound placement of its big brother.
  7. Here's some pics I took if anyone's interested:
  8. aardvark sandwich, you're out of your element My fucking wallet can't fucking take it right now.
  9. Damn, I lost my cell phone last week and need a replacement and now I'm getting into this whole iPhone hype. The thing has enough space to satisfy my MP3 and video needs on the go, it connects to wireless networks, it works great as an agenda and it's goddamn pretty. But the price tag is very high and I bet Apple will release a new version the second after I buy it. On the other hand, it could replace the Nano I'm using at the moment, so price tag would be more like 350$ which is a little bit better. I fucking hate Apple for making good, but pricey products.

    Ultrasone HFI-780

I'll probably get the chance to listen to a ALO modded HFI-780 at a meet this week-end. I've never heard a Ultrasone before so I'm quite curious about hearing one. On H-F, a lot of people love them and here it's pretty much the opposite, so I'll try to make myself an objective opinion. Although I have to say my opinion is already a little bit biased because everything ALO makes is very silly IMO.

  12. No, but thanks for the heads up. I'm not sure if I really want to talk to Hammill though, my main language is French and while my English is pretty good, I still have a lot of trouble understanding some of the things he says in his songs and I feel it would make a very strange conversation.
  13. I did the usual used CD stores run today and came back with these: Peter Hammill - The Silent Corner And The Empty Stage Yes - The Yes Album (original Atlantic mastering) Queensryche - Promised Land Porcupine Tree - Nil Recurring (bought it new) The good thing if some of you ever come to Montreal is that all the best used CD stores (about 7) are in a 15-minutes walk radius starting at Metro Mont-Royal and there is some excellent selection.
  14. Ok, no answers so I assume there might not be any Montrealer here except me. Anyway, here's exactly what's happening if there are some Quebecois hidden in the dark:

  17. Because it was 11 PM, I had big red rashes all over my body and I wasn't breathing normally.
  18. I'm in Quebec where universal health care is in application and it works great for people with serious illnesses. My dad went to the hospital last year for peritonitis and he was treated in less than two hours and stayed at the hospital for two weeks. The problem with universal health care is that a lot of people abuse the system and go to the hospital for stupid things because they have nothing better to do. Because of that, people who are not considered urgent cases tend to wait a lot. A couple of years ago, I had some rashes on my skin due to an alimentary allergy and I had to wait about 6 hours at the emergency because it was not considered "important".

    Fluke 179?

Thanks for the input guys, I think I'll go for it. The 170 series is supposed to be slower taking AC measures and is quite a bit less precise than the 180 to match resistors, but it costs 200$ less. Also, this is a local deal, so no shipping and possible Canadian customs fees.

    Fluke 179?

Well, I'm doing a degree in electrical enginerring so I guess it could be useful once I graduate. We already have a shitload of measurement tools at school so the Fluke will be more for my personal usage, but like you said, I think it's a good long-term investment.

    Fluke 179?

Anyone's got experience with this multimeter? I'm getting into DIY and I have the possibility to acquire a used unit in mint condition for 135$. From what I've read, Fluke dmm are generally a safe bet, but I was wondering if anyone had some feedback to give about this particular model.
  22. To answer the OP, they're both entry-level phones and neither can be considered better than the other, they just do different things. PX100 is an open phone, so it provides no isolation while the PX200 isolates quite well from ambient noises. If you bought a pair on eBay for what you think is a good price, they're probably fake. Now, it wasn't a good idea to post a question like this here. You'll have to "pay the prize"...
