I received my SRM-T1S today. First impression, that thing is huge compared to the SRM-Xh. With my Lambda Signature, the sound seems a lot fuller, especially bass, and spatial imaging is better, less diffuse. It also corrects partially the thinness in the lower treble, it's less harsh and the impact is smoother. I did some A/B comparisons today and it is better than the SRM-Xh in every possible aspect, but I kind of expected that considering the price difference (150$ vs 600$). There's probably a bit of new toy syndrome in what I say right now, but it's pretty easy to hear the differences between the two amps.

Yup, and I bet it will sound very nice with the OII mk1 that I bought last night from humanflyz. I'll have to find a new home for the Signatures though to recoup some of the financial hit.

I raise a glass of whisky for our new acquisitions. That will be one hell of a rig with the Blue Hawaii fed by the Northstar. My setup is not really well balanced at the moment, but I bought the SR-007 more as a long-term headphone to build a rig around it.

Coming soon... I'm so addicted to the Stax sound that I figured I should buy one of their best models to kill upgraditis. Humanflys pair came just at the right moment. I'll have to cut off audio expenses for a while though.

Yes I've also tried that and it seems like the hum was less loud, but there was still a hum. Didn't try with different interconnects though because I only have one right now. EDIT: I just noticed that when the amp is plugged with absolutely no inputs, I can still hear the hum. So either my electric system is faulty or it's the amp...

I think I'm having a grounding problem with my SRM-Xh amp. It picks some hum from the AC line that I can hear equally in both channels and it disappears when I touch the amp or the cables. I suspect the problem is coming from the Stax amp because it never did that with any other amp. I use a power strip, so I figured I could try plugging everything directly into the wall, but it didn't change a thing. The strip I'm using shares the power between computer, DAC, amp and the light on my desk. I tried unplugging everything but the DAC and the amp and leaving computer on battery power and it also didn't change a thing. The only workaround is when I touch either the amp or the cable, the hum disappears. If someone can help me with that, I'd appreciate it a lot, it's a really annoying problem. \ EDIT: I forgot to add that I can still hear the buzz through the headphones even when the amp is turned off...

Haha, funny typo. I had a pair of HD600/Cardas with a M^3 and I thought it was an excellent match. It really tightened the bass of the Sennheiser and made the mids more forward/less veiled than directly out of the 0404USB output. I haven't heard the other amps you mentionned though.

OK, I see your point. I was just trying to think about the human side of all this, people possibly losing their jobs, etc., but like you said, they should be accountable of their decisions. What's sad is that could have sorted out the problem by not being confrontational with the customer and refunding his money straight away.

I understand your point and agree with most of your post, but do we really want to put Jena Labs out of business? It's a serious threat to them if it expends on Audiogon and SH forums... I totally disagree with their practices of overpricing cables and they did a horrible job with the R10, but do we really want to make these people lose their job? I don't have an opinion on that...

That thread is pure gold, but it is in need of a new Morph post to add some fuel to the fire. I wish I was as good as some of you manipulating the English language very cleverly without insulting the guy.

The thread title is too bland to get a lot of attention. Something like "JenaLabs R10 - Horror story!" or "JenaLabs murdered my R10" would have been better. Let's hope a lot of people will check the thread.

My prediction is that you'll be right if the Habs continue to get dominated physically like they did against the Bruins. Guys like Plekanec, Streit and Kostitsyn don't like to get hurt in the corners, but that's how you win playoffs so the better start to play like real men or we'll get our ass whipped by Philadelphia or New York.
