  1. that second question is easy, no. do some research on "lateral" versus "vertical" MOSFETs, in the context of audio.
  2. perhaps a high voltage darlington? They seem to exist, perhaps for SMPS design? http://pdf.datasheet.su/stmicroelectronics/stp03d200.pdf no idea if you can get them...
  3. I believe that part is not recommended for new designs, so it might be hard to find.
  4. Sat through meetings with HP's patent lawyers all .. day ... long...
  5. Imagine playing and buying that was 1 hour old, where the varnish had barely even set It has come a long way in 10 years. 40-50 years sounds good, holy burn-in batman!
  6. I didn't get in on any BF CM "deals" either. First year in a while. Instead I brought shame on my household by getting the "wrong" piece of Japanese steel, perhaps the "right" stone, a X-Mini 2, some resistors from PcX and a book on vintage cocktails and the domain hwhack.us.
  7. Using an external card will still have benefits over using a video card. I've actually looked into this a fair amount.
  8. Looking at Kerry's schematic... perhaps the given values for RV1 and RV2 (as well as adjusting the series resistances on either side of RV1) are suboptimal? Perhaps different values would make the adjustment a bit less tedious?
  9. That's a cool idea
  10. I have the Karneols and have tried pretty much every string they make. I like them a lot. It's nice to have another perlon option on the market. You're going to be a better judge than me. They are cheap and sound good on my instrument, which has just hit the 10 year mark and really seems to be maturing. My ranking is probably: Warchal Karneol, Dominant, Wondertone Solo, Evahs, Larsen (regular) The Larsen regular are great for like 1 week (an exaggeration, but really they're the worst I've seen). I haven't tried the Vision in forever (or Infield). I used the Wondertones for a year or so and liked them, but wanted something cheaper... then I switched briefly back to Dominants and then to the Warchal. Originally I paid $25 a set for the Warchal, looks like they are $35 now, unless you find them on sale (at Quinn). That's about what, $10 cheaper than Dominants?
  11. does anyone perhaps need anything from Percy? I need a few items but not enough to meet the minimum order requirement of $25. I'd be glad to arrange shipping worldwide.
  12. Dude, try the Warshal. Now. I'm perhaps unwilling to spend as much as you, but I'm pretty impressed. I switched from the Evah's. I do like the Obligattos and Dominants, so it might be a worthy suggestion. I get mine from Quinn online.
  13. (checks are you drunk thread)
  14. I guess I was a DeLay student then. Might as well add Galamian on there too.
  15. the later. I'd assume the schematic is correct, unless by some chance the BOM was updated to reflect some change after the amp was built and that wasn't propagated back to the schematic. What's R78 and R79 on the actual T2 circuit?
  16. speaking of the multi-watt resistors, are the ratings on the schematic okay to follow? I notice that in many cases the BOM has triple the rating. It seems that in most cases 1W is sufficient, and even in the case of the series output resistors, 1W might be more appropriate than a 3W resistor for safety reasons.
  17. My wife asked for one for Christmas. I'm not sure what her plans are honestly, as we have music playing contraptions in nearly every room now
  18. Please don't start the ban countdown until they arrive Monkey! Eek!
  19. Andy should have some tubing I can send as well. I also have pins for Kevin's Stax jacks. Just send me a list of ancillary items you need and I can send what I have on hand.
  20. just bought one. we'll see.
  21. Nice work! Did you remember to teat the LEDs and what not before installing them? I found 2 duds out of the bag of one I had.
  22. Ah, just wanted to make sure that big long trace past the pour didn't rely in the solder mask as insulation, but sounds like this isn't the case. Very nice, I really like it.
  23. You might want to take some time and convince yourself whether or not the Xicon resistors are magnetic... That would be the main reason not to use them in my opinion.
  24. It's tomorrow somewhere in the world, isn't it?
