  1. Tom Bihn Tri-Star and $100 worth of accessories...
  2. I liked the Alpha Bravo Tyndall a lot. I think I need the backpack style thingy for when the munchkins are around. I really like the symmetry of the Tri-Star, and I'm going to have to tempt fate (i.e. Gene, Jim, and Boomy) and try this one.
  3. Yup, that is the one I was referring to as the bigger Oxx. It has a few hundred more sq in of space compared to the Bihn so it's a bit larger that I was wanting. I aldo prefer the Bihn look (despite Mrs. Monkey not liking the Bihn look above in this thread, maybe it was a murse that Dinny bought?) I definitely want three full size zipper spots and backpack option.
  4. I looked at the MLC today. It's nice. For the price, its the best choice no doubt. I wish the Air Boss had backpack straps as an option. I'm going to order the Bihn today most likely that Monkey suggested above. Once I get it, I'll compare it to the MLC and go from there. The larger Oxx with the straps is a bit too big, and the Bihn Tri Star looks to be a nice compromise. Also, from the pics at least there is a bit more attention to detail than te Oxx and it has a more refined look IMHO.
  5. I like the Patagonia MLC.
  6. I also am looking for something like Dinny is, meaning same requirements... or a hand-me down, if you have something you want to upgrade from.
  7. Nice! Might as well pop in the ICs into the PSU sockets and do the jumpering on the PSU as well. You might find some solderable test points to be useful, or just make some loops with wire for the grabber probes to attach to.
  8. I spent some time playing the violin the last few days. I had no idea how much my technique had lasped. I cannot begin to play Flesch in tune and my fingers get confused. I've always wanted to learn Hrimaly, so I'll do that instead. Heifetz' opinion is good enough for me.
  9. I dunno, Texas is pretty bad too.... On the rare occasions we get snow all hell breaks loose
  10. Jim, nice! No, the hooch
  11. Made tiramasu #4... this time with amaretto. Despite the double boiler being mismatched and thus really unstable, I think it turned out well. I went all out including Illy espresso and imported lady fingers and marscapone and Ghiradelli cocoa dust.
  12. If only someone would speak out about using portable amps with full sized cans!
  13. I disagree. Orthos has nothing to do with it, it's more about the decline of HF and lack of seasoned veterans posting there.
  14. Definitely not true here either.
  15. who cares?
  16. Active phase plug? Heh.
  17. hm okay. that's one way to do it.
  18. sad news indeed..
  19. It had a SME style cutout, so all you had to do is make a armboard and drop it in. There even was a two arm version. Much better design IMHO. Pehaps the overseas shipping was prohibitive due to the larger size?
  20. Marantz has some changers that are still in production.
  21. do all the new plates not have the arm coupled to the top plate? I vastly prefer the single unit design. It might be worth looking for the older style if this is the case.
  22. tea from Upton: 125g of Organic Green Ku-ki Cha Kamakura
  23. I believe most of the impressions are here: http://www.head-case.org/forums/headphones/8346-audeze-lcd-2-a.html
  24. hm, I also need a small slab poured yay, cannot wait. I wish this was a little later, as I have a surprise in the works that's not quite finished. but, who can pass up the opportunity to have Dr. Wood in da house for a day or so?
  25. I'm also interested in the Super 6.5 steel. Has anyone else heard these? Any favorites in the 6.5" realm? Anyone remember the old Fostex coaxial drivers? I just located a pair of 167e which are no longer available and looking for something with similar parameters to compare with.
