  1. Some of it is freaking hilarious though
  2. Bought a 2009 Toyota Highlander Limited. Pretty nice car and seems to be the perfect fit for us.
  3. heh, if you need some help, let me know.
  4. I've had this happen a few times with my SB Radio and never could figure out why. There is a good amount of info in the logs though, have you checked there?
  5. I was apparently confused as well, so perhaps it's a Texas thang?
  6. ibuds plus these: Peltor Shotgunner Earmuff Hearing Protection - SportsAuthority.com
  7. generally better. less bestiality, more beer.
  8. I'd propose a custom wound inductor, polystyrene caps. It would be nice to fit them in a small project box. It would be cool if a switch could be fashioned that defeated or enabled in the internal crossover, but I suppose it would have to be on the headphones themselves. Ari: As for measuring the actual values, I'd probably just generate a frequency response and phase graph of the filter itself and then reconstruct the filter. That way the inductance of the resistor (if any) and resistance of the inductor will be captured properly.
  9. Fitz, any inkling on if these values changed over the life of the design? I'm kinda tempted to bypass mine and build an external crossover with better components. Ari, how do you do your active filter?
  10. Interesting. Is the DCR of the inductor enough to be significant to mention?
  11. No problem, I really like doing this sort of stuff. Take note of the wires and which goes to which driver (there are two per driver and the polarity is important, so perhaps mark the wires A-D and also mark the crossover boards the same letter) Its possible that one wire from the drivers might connect directly to the binding posts as well, and also there could be more than one board in there. Also note how much larger you think the boards can be and still fit, as most likely we will want to make things a bit bigger usually the woofer hole is one of the limiting factors in the size, as you'd likely suspect.
  12. ahem. ok, you're right. just this once though, don't let it happen again.
  13. well, I should warn you. I have found nests and various types of excrement in speakers before.
  14. Dinny: If you can pop the crossover boards out, send them to me. I'll rebuild them for ya. Simply remove (the largest driver) and stick your hand in and fish around for them. They might be glued down. Also, don't have an account at this place, but I bet this link will work once you register: http://audiokarma.net/forums/showpost.php?p=678456&postcount=7
  15. you're an idiot. "original price" was an amazing deal to begin with, for a handcrafted product of that caliber. Decent folk have been upcharging from the original cost and handing that "profit" back to Smeggy, where it belongs.
  16. was planning on doing some speaker measurements, and somehow I can not find the microphone holder for my measurement mic. Looked for it for a few hours to no avail. Then tried to find a replacement one, and after being fustrated with trying to find one that had specs proving it would fit, just ordered the cheapest one on Ebay for a few bucks and hoping it will work. Gr.... at getting approval for some DIY time from the wife and not being able to find all the parts to do what I was hoping to do.
  17. There is Reformation Sunday, but I'm not sure how far right that falls on your scale Reks
  18. Fitz can handle this one on his own. He, unlike you, has seen the insides and it's not hard to figure out how to proceed once you have that info.
  19. I'm pretty sure Stax doesn't "voice" things. Unless by voice you mean makes things that sound fucking awesome.
  20. Perhaps they'll use the "lost" letter instead, the digamma! (classics major geek FTW!)
  21. ^^ pretty impressive little setup, I like.
  22. .... right.
  23. There's a nice quantity and quality of bass with these. Is that normal for a Grado?
  24. ZOTAC ZBOX-HD-AD01 and Seagate Momentus XT HDD. My first AMD processor in quite a while (Neo X2 L325)... gotta buy local I guess. For what it is, it has nice specs.
  25. Thanks guys, it was a good one indeed.
