  1. At 1%? Nope, same distortion, different ears.
  2. yeah, I was curious about that, hence the question somewhere on the previous page about the measurement used for the top of the board to the bottom of the panel...
  3. Chris: The issue with the RCA jack IMHO is that the securing hole interfers with the securing hole on the IEC, so the entire RCA jack leans a bit and causes the template to be off. Any chance you could verify the location of the pot and antirotate point on the front panel when you get around to those, I've sorta been waiting for another person to chime in before I attempt it. Doug: I was wanting to up the gain while I'm in there to up the current as you recommended above. Any recommendations here? I don't have a single can that I use below 70% of the pot and all in fact are comfortable at 100% if the source material is recording at a low level. My source is 2vrms output and cans are all (properly damped) orthos.
  4. here's the cable Ric: The Enyo Silver Upgrade Cable for Ultimate Ears(Black/White) [Enyo_BW] - S$96.60 : Null Audio Studio, Where everything is purely handmade
  5. [fanboy]what antenna issue?[/fanboy]
  6. Actually, can I change to 2x RW2S0DA100RJE-ND (yeah, yeah, this is what PM is for)
  7. cool Nate, if it works out that would fantastic.
  8. if anyone happens to place a Digikey order any time soon, can I sneak two SMD resistors on it? grr.. looking for two 100 ohm, 2W SMD resistors at approx 4318 case size (i.e. PWR4318W1000JECT-ND)
  9. heh, yeah I'd assume Steve is correct
  10. The yokeless concept (either single or double ring) is an interesting one, and a better technical solution than the conventional MC design, and perhaps better than the unconventional designs (those being ZYX and Miyajima). I'll probably try one out at some point.
  11. true 'dat.
  12. Ordered a Null Audio Enyo JH cable today. I hope it doesn't suck.
  13. There's a zero percent chance I'll be able to make this one guys.

.. And floor space? Heh, I'm up for it Steve!
  16. Has anyone played with biasing capacitors that normally only see AC with a small amount of DC? I know some commercial speaker manufacturers have been doing this for a while (Vandersteen, Infinity, JBL, etc. comes to mind) usually using a battery and often accompanied by fancy marketing speak ("Charge-Coupled Linear Definition Dividing Network"). There is a lot of ink spilled on the subject, but what do you say?
  17. needs moar consensus!

I'd like to make it and bring my speakers, which might entail a road trip. Are there (free?) accommodation for this sort of rig?
  20. in this case the signal is "all frequencies". sorta interesting to watch. I'll see if I can post a sample that does it.
  21. I am using a AT-1005mk2 which I really like, but the Moerch is a good choice. Depends really on the cartridge I guess. Played with the new RB301 this weekend and am not a huge fan... from the new mounting style to the goofy anti-skate adjustment, to the rough finish on the headshell. I prefer the older design.
  22. Congrats Nate! Scary stuff indeed...
  23. I'm thinking about trying a Transfiguration Axia. Has anyone heard it?
