1. I meant more in comparison to the 2 or UNIverse than in general.
2. Yeah, it was the last cart in the old lineup. Geared towards "rock".
3. The Airy 3 is the one cartridge that I never really understood in the ZYX lineup. I've compared it to the UNIverse and Airy 2S in one sitting and it didn't seem to have the same sound signature of the others. Lacking in the mids is one way to put it, but I'd say not as much alive as the others. The 2 series was discontinued later as I'm sure you know. Supposedly they (2 and 3) are similar in construction, but perhaps my ears weren't working that day or something.
4. agreed jp#. It's a fantastic cart!
5. heh: "I just have to heal up and I'll be back out there," Rogers said. "If I get bit again, I'll probably stay out for sure. I'm not testing my luck that much."
6. Justin: ha! Didn't you know a cmoy breaks down into dual mono at the output jack?
7. I get 60C on the PT and 60C on the regulator heat sink 105C on the tubes and 50C on the BJTs. This is with the lid off and being on most of the day...
8. Reks, do you want to dissolve head-case? Yes? Ok, let's auction it off at CanFEST. Just put it up for sale. Do you think anyone would care? Can I get a quorum? I can do that. I can fly to CanFEST and put it up for auction? You don't think I can do that? I can do that right now from this phone.
9. yawn... when do I get to borrow these again?
10. have you guys tried using a 6N15P, ECC91?
11. bigger caps in the CLC? I have a small bit of lessemf I can send your way that you can drop in and re-run your tests. Just PM me your address if you'd like to try it out.
12. drop a soldering iron on it? terminate it backwards? who knows...
13. Tom: What's the height of the PCB that you used to layout the panels? I need to get the y coordinate of the center of the red switch, to make sure it fits. I double checked all measurements on the diagram and they look good. The one measurement that was a bit off was the x coordinate of the pot and the antirotation nub. This could be due to slop in the slot, but I get about 1.5mm less than the numbers you have. Could anyone double check one of these two for me?
14. [dusty]com'on guys, all he did is post in the wrong forum...[/dusty]
15. action shot Doug: With respect to the noise, you could try a low ESR cap for C5 (tantalum) perhaps?
16. is that you Pete?
17. dibs? heh. looks really cool.
18. my cheap IR thermometer is amazingly inaccurate it's more of an ambient temperature meter if anything...
19. with heat sinks?
20. whatever handbrakes drop down select box that says "iphone" produces? HandBrake I've only done this once, but it was literally three clicks..
21. what's the fun in having insulated parts then?
22. .. plus the bracket, plus the interface between the bracket and the heat sink, plus the anodizing (if any) on the heat sink, plus ambient differences say between Iceland and Texas, etc... I think that 22W/27W will end up a bit lower. Even 100C is pushing a TO-220 package, lets say 75C. Anyways, its good to see the calculations
23. don't forget the thermal grease for the plastic package
