the adapters are pretty easy to make. Hardest part in my case was drilling a hole in the base for the top cap, as those bases are pretty fragile when drilling at that angle. You won't have to worry about this. I like to use bases and sockets that fit inside each other, then once the adapter is tested then I can secure the two together with an appropriate adhesive. I've also found that using PCB sockets work better that the loop style, as they are more compact when pushing the socket into the base. Just make sure you use proper temperature (and voltage) rated wire and you'll be fine.

once you get the 7n7 up on adapters, they will be pretty tall, assuming you make adapters the same way I do.. then again, all my adapters have plate caps on them... don't forget about the 7af7, and perhaps it's time to think about a 12.6v heater option for your psu... this results in............ more tubes!

I'd still like to see a picture of the critter. I'm finishing up an external heater supply that can supply 2 x 7.5A of DC filament current and has a 6.3 and 12.6v switch, so I can have switch these supplies independently. I'm tentatively calling it "the bench warmer", for obvious reasons. I considered working in an external pass device to go even higher, but I'm not sure if it's needed... so, the question for Earl and Nate: What tubes have you run across with the most demanding heater requirements? I'd appreciate a heads up so I can decide about the pass device someone soon. I'm most interested in tubes that have high current requirements that don't have center tapped heaters, since in this case I'd use the lower current option, since I can.
