  1. I thought canaries were the uber-sensitive birds.... (stupid computer science reference)
  2. I'd recommend steroids. Hopefully it will shrink his nads and possibly prevent him from reproducing... win-win for everyone involved.
  3. heh... would there be interest in a clone of the socket used on the Illusion? Cost would be pretty expensive, probably around $100 US. I would use the same type of pins and a teflon body. I don't have a good (cheap) source for the pins, so I'd have to buy another component that uses them and then repurpose the pin sockets, and this would be one reason the cost would go up. The other is a small number would be built, i.e. limited production. The teflon rod isn't as much as I figured it would be, but it still adds up. I'm thinking about going down that path myself regardless of interest, and perhaps once a prototype is done we can talk about it some more.
  4. This reminds me of my impressions as well. I don't think the two are all that dissimilar amps in terms of basic sound. It's been a bit, but I spend a good couple hours comparing to the Single Powers I had at the time and never ended up with the HA-2, so I guess that says something. Enjoy!
  5. definitely. Both of these combos in my opinion are source 100% dependent. You can really stack the cards in your favor of the HE60 with a nice oversampling, new-era source and you can really make the SR-007 KGSS combo shine with a older, non-oversampling source. I've heard both with my Nottingham and can say that I definitely prefer the SR-007 in this case, as the HE60 needs the artificial detail and top end shine that the OS players offer. SR-007, not so much, stick with a more fluid, analog sounding source and let the SR-007 work its detail retrieving magic in a non-obvious, non-show-off manner.
  6. yes, but they use white ink.
  7. yeah, like a 180 degree comparison.
  8. nah, he has a SR-007 like me.
  9. they don't call 'em streetwalkers for nuthin'
  10. heh, there is no DIY table......... must not deviate........ There needs to be some sort of coupling between the arm and table, but the Nottingham approach of minimal coupling seems to be my cup of tea.
  11. my house got a 45/100.
  12. listening to my hopped up KGSS and SR-007 right now.
  13. mod it with the shigaclone transport
  14. I'm with Duggeh on this one. Double Glocester is my favorite cheese. (my least favorite being Morbier .... vegetable ash? who thought that one up)
  15. also, figured I'd give you one DIY option... why not the new Sympatico Amplifier from the folks at Twisted Pear Audio: http://www.twistedpearaudio.com/news.aspx
  16. vinyl sucks without gravity, so I'd pass on that...
  17. how cheap is cheap? What about one of these: http://audiosector.com/chassis_patek_amp.shtml
  18. I think I have material to make 2 more, so I'm thinking that I might hold onto them for future arm pods, and then I would fabricate other custom plates to fit the cutout of the particular arm I'm using. why not I'm thinking...

I used to play LoRD and Trade Wars, does that count?
  22. still impacts the signal path. My suggestion of ear plugs was the only one that keeps as pure as possible signal path, so there!
  23. lol, the LCD is bigger than the heatsinks
