I watched the video for the new shuffle. If you sync it with a Mac you get a dude's voice... sync it with a PC and you get a woman's voice.
Yeah the lack of 3rd party headphone use or ability to use it as a source seems to be a non-starter for the Mac-faithful over at MacRumors. Of course, that's not who this is for, it's for the masses; people who want something small and easy to use and forget about while working out...etc.
And despite the fact that most of us hate the Apple earbuds, I see them all over campus. Very few students have 3rd party headphones.... most use the white buds.
Not sure if anyone here cares, but there's a new iPod shuffle out today.

Apparently the controls are in the earbud wires.... so that kind sucks as it locks you into Apple's earbuds. I doubt 3rd party companies will even bother to come up with something that you can use with this iPod.
I like the size and form factor though. It would be nice if they kept up the color scheme. I still like my orange shuffle
She rocked... there's been a change in her playing style/confidence since I last saw her live about 2-3 years ago. It's very zen... the music just happens out of her at this point. She's starting to play around a lot with some of the old favs too and they're great. I will never get tired of seeing her live.
Owning both a Kindle and an iPod touch, I can say the combo is nice. Now the Kindle stays home by the bedside and the touch comes to work... then I sync the Kindle and it finds the last place I left off on the touch. Very nice and no issues so far.
That's what she said.
Looks like fun was had by all. Sorry I missed the phone call Vicki... I've been sick and had already gone to bed by that point. I sleep like the dead... nothing wakes me up.
So here's a neat little "feature". I was using the Public Radio app and listening to WAMU... I then plugged in the iPod touch into my laptop for power and of course this initiated a sync. I figure the app would close, the sync would happen and when it was done, I'd fire up the app again to listen.
Well, the sync happened and the public radio app was still running and streaming audio through the sync. So I guess that's possible. Kinda cool.
There's a Public radio app that's free, works on the iPod Touch (via WiFi) and has a hell of a lot of streams to public radio stations, including KCRW.

Me too, especially since the Dell Mini 9 can be hacked to run OS X. very tempting. The only thing holding me back is that cramped netbook keyboard, but even that can be dealt with via a USB keyboard in non-travel settings.
[realitydistortion]Of course we can all just wait another year to pay 50% more for the totally awesome netbook Apple will eventually release that saves humanity and single-handedly release the US from the icy grip of the recession.[/realitydistortion]
I think you'll like it. The guy who runs the podcast, Dave, likes Artemis, Lori Carson, Natalie Walker...etc. That's what initially drew me to the show. I revisit it every few months. Good stuff and free! At least the podcast.
Currently on a "shuffle" phase or, the "finding a new phase" phase. This will go on for 1-3 weeks.
PS. There's a great podcast called Dave's Lounge that features down-tempo, chill, ambient and electronica music. I have frequently turned to that podcast for new music in those areas.
