Rock Grotto and iPodStudio set the precedent. After those two, it was easier to just make a rule -- no promoting of forums on head-fi that are in competition with head-fi, directly or indirectly -- and follow it with everyone. He actually does get along with a couple people here -- grawk, in particular. It actually makes sense, from a business perspective, but certainly seems fascist the first time you're hit with it. I mean, if you were an auto insurance company, would you provide links to other auto insurance companies? Alright, yes, you would, if you were going to take on the big names, and claim that you were better than them. I mean, how much sense would it make to say, "we can beat the insurance company that cannot be named that starts with a 'G' and ends with 'EICO' by 15 cents or more"? No, if you really could beat their prices, you'd want to be able to say that you could beat their prices, and exactly whose prices it is you were beating.

It looks cool, definitely -- I love the concept of a "soft" interface -- but the biggest selling point of the iPod is the interface. The iPod's interface. This one is different. Ah well, moot point now.

You shouldn't get the iPhone, and here's why: it's basically just an iPod -- without the cool interface -- and a cell phone -- admittedly, the kind with internet built in, but...whatevs... You already have a cell phone and an iPod, no? Then what do you need it for?

MC ones are especially difficult because of the additional gain needed, but not all of them. Specifically, whichever ones Hirsch and Juan use are both pretty good (and since Hirsch has multiples, I'll specify that I particularly like the one he has on his VPI -- I don't know which one it is, and I don't know which one Juan uses; I think I've also heard that little penguin logo'ed one, whatever it's called -- I think it's the Firestone Audio Korora). My X-LP2 is 75/82 "A" weighted (whatever that means).

I would more likely recommend putting it up on eBay, but you said you were in a rush.

Actually, it doesn't look like they're all from any one label. I recognize a lot of them from Columbia, for example (Al Di Meola, Return to Forever, etc.). Romantic Warrior, specifically, I know has had multiple remasters, as I have at least two of them (within reach, I might add). They might be one of those labels that also has an online store to sell stuff that they "believe" in.

We got the cold, too, it just barely crested freezing today. I'm a happy boy, though -- my previous allergist said that if I prayed for stuff, I should pray for cold dry winters, because those would be best for me.

How difficult would either of those be? My friend still hasn't done anything about it, and is not averse to having someone other than Pacific Valve do it. And would you be able to tell if this is one of them from a serial number? Or pics of insides? What should I be taking a picture of?

I got these one pair of Propet's -- with one pair of socks, they don't fit quite right; with another pair, they fit perfectly. (So yes, I bought them, and I'll only wear those socks with those shoes.)
