  1. That's what I thought initially -- I mean, you could garrot a barbie doll with that chain -- but after some serious consideration, I think the rest of the watch outweighs that minor infraction. I mean, did you see the filigree/inlay/whatever on the "face" of the watch? It's gorgeous.
  2. Looking to get a second, decent, <US$1K universal player. Looking at: Marantz Oppo Arcam Denon Pioneer ...which others should I be looking at, and why? Looking to buy new, as the ridiculous amount of technology turnover makes it worrisome that components (especially the transport) will too quickly become irreplaceable. Oppo strikes me as the one to beat -- with an external DAC for redbook -- anyone have any serious contenders? I'd really like to think that the Marantz changer (VC6001) is pretty good, and is tempting if for no other reason than for its ability to play multiple disks.
  3. You know, the more I look, the more I think I need want a skeleton, and Invicta seems to be the way to go with skeletons, and this one appears to be the closest to my tastes -- is that the Russian Diver one that's just north of US$800?
  4. I renamed this topic, since it's long since gone beyond just Fossil brand watches.
  5. Yeah, but I also read where she said she was going to buy it from him even if it wasn't so...why not go ahead and start using it?
  6. Vicki, have you posted impressions on your SRM-001, yet? If so, I missed them. I'm dying to hear what you think of them.
  7. Or you could just get a "universal" like the Samsung, but you'd still need the switcher for your PS3.
  8. Just finished: Ex Machina 3: Fact v. Fiction Just started: Ex Machina 4: March to War (a little light "reading" over the break)
  9. Thanks, but I guess what I meant was, I'd like to hear what it does.
  10. Can I be the first to say I am curious about what the Tubyness knob does? And potentially might like it?
  11. (makes a mental note to check out Damian)
  12. One of the problems with being an atheist and telling people you don't want anything for christmas is that they begin to believe you and stop getting you shit. I got a shitload of money, though, some of which will probably go towards the PS-1's.
  13. Musical Fidelity Nu-Vista M3 Tri-Vista 300 A308 A300 kW500 A5.5 kW550 A1008 A5 A3.5 All rated > 100W into 8 ohms, only the Nu-Vista not rated into 4 ohms, but I asked, and it should work just fine.
  14. Yeah, really nice write-up, I'm going to have to figure out a way to print that out for later reading.
  15. I have my ex's parents in my phone as "The Outlaws". Just saw them about a week ago. They always gave me a hard time, but that was more along the lines of the "bonding comeradery" type hard time that we give each other around here.
  16. Well...don't just say "that would be nice" to everything, that doesn't tell me anything. What is it you are trying to accomplish? Some of those are mutually exclusive. I mean, yes, it is perfectly legitimate to say, "I want a well-balanced rig that doesn't offend too offensively in any one direction, without excelling in any, either", I just want to make sure that's what you're saying. For example, I am not a detail freak, quite the opposite -- it's almost to the point that I could care less about detail (at least, not until we get into the US$1K+ systems). I like prat, good extension in the frequency extremes with a flattish frequency response (no particularly onerous peaks or valleys), without loss of transient peaks.
  17. Could someone post how to do this, or a link?
  18. I disagree. One can get very good, very deep, and very accurate bass...as long as one is only listening to it. One doesn't get the reinforcement that feeling those low notes with the rest of the body gets one -- which is what I think most people mean by "visceral bass" -- but what is heard is certainly completely -- if not more easily -- reproducable by headphones. You have to realize, that the physics is completely different. You don't have to energize the whole room, since you have the drivers right next to your ears, you don't even have to energize that space between the drivers and your ears, you only have to worry about the inverse square law at a very low distance relative to the frequencies' wavelengths. I will admit, it's a rather bizarre experience to hear deep, accurate, well reproduced, and to not feel it with your body, but when it's done right, it's magical.
  19. Sounds like a scene from 9 1/2 Weeks. Kinky.
  20. I can see the pics. I especially like the first hardcore porn shot.
  21. Dude, it's not what you wear, but how you wear it.
  22. Apogee Mini-DAC Benchmark DAC-1 Bel Canto DAC2 Musical Fidelity X-DACv3 + X-PSUv3 -- I also see a couple a3.24's, those are good Upgraded MSB (the Gold + P1000 one looks good)
