I disrecommend anything with vindictiveness. Your instincts to spin it as "a better match" are fine, just spin it like that. When you go looking for your third job, you'll need references. And you never know when you're going to want to go back. Print it out, date it, personally give one to your boss (the one who signs your timesheet), one to your supervisor (if the person who dictates what you do on a daily basis and/or manages you on a daily basis is different than your boss), one to HR (via interoffice mail for this last one is fine), and keep one for yourself. It should indicate (a) that you've quit, ( what is your last day of work, and if appropriate, © any actions on their part that are expected by you (such as severance, if that is something that you've negotiated priorly).

Exactly. Reminds me of my thumb-sucking days. Of which I'd rather not be reminded.

New Portable USB DAC/Amp to preview at Maryland Meet

They remind me of something...can't put my finger on it... No, seriously, I'm sure the shape is functionally driven...because they just kinda look funny. As I said before, "...um..." <--- meant to sound like indecisiveness, not outright rejection.
-
The wood is nice; the shape is rather..."um"...; but the light brown plastic is hideous. So...how do they sound?

You do realize that most people would disagree with you about that, don't you (that a $5K speaker amp is not super exotic high end)? It's just a matter of perspective. And I will admit that some people who spend that kind of money won't care, but I disagree that all don't. And I also will agree that people with that kind of money who spend it without caring will probably not stay rich. When we had a new driveway put in, the guy said that the neighborhood he hated the most was the richest, because they're so worried about "value for the dollar", and getting their money's worth. They're rich because they do worry about their money.
-
You're wrong about that. You're thinking about spending $5K on an amp, and you definitely give a flying fuck about value for the dollar. Even so, I don't care how much I spend, I never stop worrying about value for the dollar.
-
Why do we care? So maybe they were riveted, so what? It makes them harder for Mikhail to repair, so as soon as he got the first one back, he probably stopped. Hey, someone ask Mikhail.

This thread has been hijacked!

Dude, you wanna just borrow it for a while? It'll get you over the DT's.

Some manufacturers believe in autobias (or "selfbias") circuits , some don't, it's really as simple as that -- you'd have to poll those manufacturers to see why they do it one way or the other. For examples, I know AudioValve are really proud of their autobias circuits, and I know the Manley Stingray is a really simple design with manual bias. On the one hand, it increases the cost of the amp (compared to the same amp with manual bias), and increases the complexity of the design by some amount (I don't know if this is small or not, but I suspect it is); on the other, a bias pot is really simple. I have no idea how it affects the sound, as I've never heard similar amps, one with autobias, the other with manual bias.

The reasons don't escape him?

You're not the only one -- that's some of the best sound I've ever heard.

I don't know what you mean by "phat", but utilizing my own interpretation of the word, I love the drums on Black Sabbath's "Hand of Doom", especially during the quiet portions. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GcMANsO3XI]link[/ame]

I'm not talking about the process, I'm talking about the end result. And I'm talking about the case, don't twist my words. I was saying that the case was put together more like the Musical Fidelity, Reimyo and Rega products than like the other ones you mentioned. Fucking politician -- taking a question, and then answering with your own speech about other things. You know damn well what I meant. And don't give me this shit that RS Audio "show the internals of their amps", like it's voluntary and/or appreciated. That's a whole 'nuther debate. I'm not arguing that he's slow -- this thread could have ended with the second post, in terms of answering that question. But you're going off on a whole tangent about the cases being difficult to get into when (a) they're not, and ( the fact that they are for you says more about your inability to get into them than it says anything bad about Singlepower.
-
No, "making fun of you" would be more like it. So you're saying his amps are put together more professionally than any of those? And I'm saying that's a good thing.
-
No, dude, he's saying that maybe Mikhail made an exception in your case, and made it harder to get in to than he made everyone else's. Fucking spin doctor. Here, two can play at this game: You already admitted that you chose your words poorly, and yet you still defend them. Why? It's not "locked". Change your terminology, and quit fucking repeating yourself. It's not "hard to get into", as has already been discussed at length by multiple people. A $1 tool does not qualify as "hard to get into", just because you don't have one. And twice as many fasteners does not count neither, as it would take an extra minute at most. Have you been inside any Musical Fidelity amplifiers? Have you been inside your Reimyo? Have you been inside a Rega? There ya go.
-
Yeah, that should stop anyone. Purk -- I don't think you understood the purpose of Mark's warning, it was to keep people out of the amp. My mom, in her 20's, looked kind of like girl-next-door version of Audrey Hepburn. Without the gloves, though.

So...hirsute midget porn.

So what are the sub's 5.1 analog inputs, RCA's? 1/8's? Other? The standard (since forever) for HT is RCA; for some computer-oriented audio gear such as the Logitechs it's stereo 1/8's. So if it's RCA's, you just need 6 normal RCA-RCA interconnects. If it's 3 stereo 1/8's, then you need 3 of these. Your sub should have something that says "output to speakers". Those are also 1/8's? How do they get to the speakers? Are they stereo on one and and mono on the other? This is basically just speaker wire, as the amplifier is housed in the sub. Connectors can be adapted, modified, or just bought anew, no big deal.
-
Okay. As is: stereo outs from TV into sub, sub connects to satellite speakers (sub also acts as amplifier for satellites) via whatever provided cables. You don't get 5.1 with this option. If you get the Logitech Z-5500 Digital or equivalent: digital from TV into sub (they need either to both be coax, or both be optical), sub connects to satellites via whatever provided cables. If you get a prepro: digital out from TV into prepro (again, needs to be the same), pre outs via RCA into 5.1 analog inputs on sub, sub to sats via whatever. If you get a receiver: same as prepro, or, just use the receiver traditionally -- speaker outs to speakers, sub out to sub -- I wouldn't recommend this if the documentation with the 5.1 system says not to, as that means that there's some special processing that the sub does, which your receiver won't. I tried to make this post as short as possible so that I didn't muddy up the works, so feel free to ask questions.
-
I would also haunt Digital Deals -- most of them are 15" right now, but I see one HP Pavilion 17"...if you're not in any rush, these change all the time.
-
Sounds like you've already figured this out, but just to make things explicitly clear -- he's still talking about a prepro, or a receiver with pre outs, but saying that it's okay if they're RCA's, as you could just get cables that are RCA on one end and 1/8's on the other, if that had been what you needed. Now, it sounds like you just need regular old RCA interconnects.

Damn. Just...damn.
