  1. My favourite was "Breathe" live, when I saw Ministry back in the day, same tour that generated this video, only imagine it without the drumming. Everyone in the audience was familiar with the song, so it still built tension like nothing, and when they finally started (around 3:26 in the video), the entire floor started jumping up and down...and I was carried along with it. Scared the shit out of me at the time, but it's a memory I love retelling. (wanders off to look up that remix)
  2. Happy birthday! (party favour noise) I, too, hope things are well with you.
  3. This great alternative rock compilation. Only one dud I've found so far, but gets my hackles up (in a good, rock'n'roll way), so will probably switch to something mellower after tonight's episodes.
  4. Hey, do you think that’d work for audio from regular DVD-Vs? That might be all I need.
  5. https://www.facebook.com/IVM4LIFE/videos/1543288332410380/ Hobby horse tournament
  6. I should have put my leftovers in a tortilla.
  7. Ah, I had been previously using anyDVD HD, but then they switched to RedFox and I didn’t feel comfortable paying for it again. Yet another reason to buy a Mac.
  8. Wouldn't mind knowing what you're ripping DVDs with, I have some DVDs I'd like to get the audio off of (Riina Shingo...er...Ringo Sheena, some live concert DVDs, the Advanced Electronics series, etc.). Mine's a couple years old, but worked fine. Probably all the lubricant coalesced into one place due to lack of use, though. So will follow this thread to see what people recommend.
  9. That's one of them Stephin Merritt projects, innit? I dig him. I've been glorying in Agusa all day -- just plain instrumental rock, with a very retro sound -- not really prog (but not really not), not really stoner, just rock, pure and simple. I mean, just listen to this: https://lasersedge.bandcamp.com/album/agusa-24-96-hi-res
  10. I had a Rocklands food truck brisket beef sandwich for lunch earlier (forgot the leftovers) -- I think I just like caramelized meat. Now I'm going to have leftovers.
  11. That's certainly not wrong, but that sounds more like a physiological term, I was trying to think of the psychoacoustic term, if that makes any sense. I know there's a relationship between the distance between your earholes and the ability to localize a frequency (which is why we only need one subwoofer as long as it does not generate any frequencies above that frequency), but I thought there was another name for it -- The ___ Frequency -- Oh, well, I may be almost remembering something wrong...yet again. I'll go with 'infrasound'. Thanks.
  12. I forget, what's the name of that frequency at which we stop hearing a frequency, and start hearing the cycles themselves? I thought that frequency had a name.
  13. I had some drunken noodles, garlic lover chicken, beef massaman (I think), and wings earlier this evening. It was DELICIOUS!
  14. Sure sounds like a desktop.
  15. I don't know why, but serious cat cracks me up.
  16. Brightest Fell was excellent, might be my favourite Toby Daye yet. Labyrinth of Reflections is apparently the first book in a series...of which the rest has not been translated, which sucks, because my reading comprehension in Russian is next to nil. Started Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick...which is just as entertaining (so far) as she is on Twitter, so...very good, highly recommended. Apparently she reads the audible version herself, so I may actually have to get that...although I'm hearing it in her voice reading it, so it may not be necessary. Reading The Core (Peter V. Brett) from the library -- goddamn, this is good. Honest word. Will be checking out Oathbringer from the library next. Started reading Into the Drowning Deep which I won on Facebook (did I mention I won an ARC of a Mira Grant novel? I did.). Also finished Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman, which was just as entertaining as everything else he's written.
  17. It's a bit "busy", don't you think? Aye keed, aye keed...
  18. The feature set/price ratio was good, though, so you're on the right track. I'm actually tempted to send this deal to my work's IT department, because they're so cheap, they won't even buy i7 machines for us, and I doubt they paid much less. I've never bought an HP, so wouldn't know. Dell, MSI, Lenovo, Asus, those are the brands I would stick with. Anyone with more recent knowledge should feel free to add to that list. A good way to check is to go to NewEgg's laptop chooser and sort by ratings...and then buy it elsewhere, because you never know when they're going to send you a coatrack instead of a GPS system, and then try and make you pay the restocking fee as well as return shipping..
  19. Yello, Live in Berlin So groovy. On deck: Björk, Utopia and Yellow by Broekhuis, Keller & Schönwälder
  20. Happy (possibly belated) birthday! (party favour noise)
  21. My tastes have actually bifurcated since I started. I used to exclusively like smooth pleasant unoffensive -- Kilbeggan, Angel's Envy, Glenrothes -- I find all of these extremely easy drinking. But lately I've also enjoyed Smooth Ambler Contradiction, Whistle Pig (bespoke blend for Perfect Pour, but it's very similar to the 12 year old world cask finish; as well as the 10 year rye), and Hudson 4 Grain, but unfortunately my palate isn't developed enough that I can tell you what it is I like about them, just that they're not as smooth and inoffensive as the above. And there's a complicating factor -- some whiskeys give me a hangover, almost like an allergic reaction (same amount of whiskey, same hydration and food circumstances, so yes, I'm sure it's the whiskey). Birddog, in particular. Tasted fine going down, but I won't ever be drinking that again. Thanks for the offer, would love to hear some suggestions. And cheers and likewise to you and yours.
