  1. Um, okay, I knew that. Still, I believe it was Sun Tzu who said, never try to use reverse psychology on a pediatrician.
  2. No, you really didn't. There are certain horrific internet memes that I still haven't seen because when someone told me not to go looking, I didn't go looking! I'm not apologizing, I told you not to go looking. You didn't listen, but next time I won't bother, since it appears to have had a "reverse psychology" effect. ON A PSYCHOLOGIST!
  3. Max Richter, Sleep (the full 8-hour version, made 9 by tacking on "from Sleep" to the playlist) -- this is the most beautiful and most tranquil music I've ever heard. I've heard new age music described as music "...with all the evil taken out of it." Well, I don't like it when they take all the evil out of it (except for medicinal purposes -- e.g., Steven Halpern's music), then you get static music like Brian Eno's ambient works. In this case, they left just enough in.
  4. Do yourself a favour, don't look it up.
  5. Home grown asparagus? Nice!
  6. Unholy carp, that was great! If you watch the behind-the-scenes, that's Lauren Wasser, that amputation is real.
  7. You are a fucking hero.
  8. I think so? I mean, that was the main reason I got it, and the headphones even came with the cables, but now that you mentioned the digital thing, I think I only fed it with an analog signal, so will try it again with one of the digital connections. Gotta find the cables, though. They're just mini-to-mini, aren't they? Never mind, I can look.
  9. I already have a PHA-3. It's not as good -- amplification-wise -- as the Pico Power. The bass is looser and obscures the upper frequencies somewhat. I would love a dual mono (not balanced) amp, though.
  10. They're really not. They're supposed to be sheathed, anyway. Well, half the time, anyway. You would like Yvette Young (a guitarist I'm fond of) -- she likes to draw butts.
  11. Yeah, sorry, I did immediately perform a web search -- I guess the real question is, does anyone have a favourite, or has any a priori knowledge of any of these that I should lean towards or away from?
  12. ...although...all my stuff is in FLAC, so I'd have to at least temporarily double my disk space...unless...does anyone know of a FLAC player for iOS?
  13. I have an outboard amp for the Z7 -- a Headamp Pico Power, which is more than sufficient. Although if I do get the X5 Gen 3, I will definitely check out the onboard amp. It's that good, huh? Oh, fuck, I am such a dunderhead sometimes, I'll just use my iPod Touch. Dagnabit, keep forgetting about that thing, out of sight, out of mind.
  14. Mock thread, nothing to see here, move along.
  15. Far too lazy to import from South Korea, I'm happy with just keeping them separate. I think if anything needed the faraday cage, it'd be the ...amp? Cable leading up to the amp? I think I'll just start keeping my charging cable with me.
  16. Well not being fond of the Stones, it was pretty easy for me to give her a fair shake -- yeah, that's pretty...pretty. It has a Tori Amos-ish vibe to it, if you're not familiar with her. Although I'd be surprised if anyone could make "Shattered" listenable. Yes, that's a challenge, set it out there. And Silvertone is such a great album. I remember being frustrated for the longest time until that came out on CD. Going on a Chris Issak binge nao...(Silvertone, second album, Heart Shaped World, San Francisco Days, etc.)
  17. Sounds like you need a lapel mic, like they give the guests on talk shows. Or one of those hands-free microphones, like they have on TedTalks.
  18. The problem with using my cell phone is noise -- whenever it does some background (or foreground, for that matter) task to get data over the network (either wi-fi or cellular), it generates this harsh digital shit that is borderline maddening. I can't even keep it on the same side of my desk as the player when charging.
  19. Well I'm in the market for a bang/buck portable digital audio player. It's mostly backup, since I found my pink Walkman, but every once in a while it runs out of juice before the day is done, so it'd be nice to get a second one to alternate with. Should I just get a second Walkman, since I love mine so much? Or should I get a Fiio X3 or X5? Or other? Or should I nothing, and just start carrying my charging cable around with me?
  20. Art of Noise, In Visible Silence (deluxe edition) -- damn, this remaster sounds excellent ... the noise floor is practically gone.
  21. I certainly didn't.
  22. RIP to all of them.
  23. I condone this thread.
