  1. Yes! I have a thing about that kind of symmetry. When my then brother-in-law built our deck for us 20 ish years ago, we had a funky little bump out on the house -- 3 sides of an octagon. He matched the bump out in dimensions and angle for me. (My ex still lives in that house and still has that deck, so I get to occasionally see it.) It's very satisfying to see.
  2. I was just teasing -- England is not exactly famous for anything more than cucumber sandwiches, yet that seems to be cuisine of the highest order.
  3. So...you've ventured outside of England, then?
  4. I definitely want to hear them. What are you amplifying them with? I can bring amplifier, and perhaps Oppo.

Yeah, well, I've decided to stick by "not in the market for", but others are welcome to remain interested. I just cleaned off the triple flange covers of my Etymotic ER-6is, which are uncommonly good, I'm quite happy with them, especially with my advanced age hearing.
  6. Absolutely cut to shape! Don't worry about toeing the stands in, it'll look fine. You don't want there to be any stand platform in front of the speaker drivers. I prefer a little overhang, myself, but flush is fine, too. PS That's cool about the mementos. PPS I've taken to typing, "Unrelated" when I anticipate such a merger.

Yeah, I've heard good things about Ultimate Ears (Inner Fidelity), but wasn't sure if this was a good price. Zebrawood is, of course, beautiful.
  8. And on the more serious, yet beautiful side:

I'm not really in the market for any IEM, but if I were, would this be a good deal? https://www.massdrop.com/buy/ultimate-ears-reference-remastered
  10. Before assembly: That's not a speaker stand, that's a speaker palanquin. Not really, but the way the wood extruded from all sides made me think of a palanquin. Actually, they kind of remind me of Lincoln Logs...does anyone else remember Lincoln Logs?
  11. Yeah, it's silly how much they love him.
  12. When I don't know how to respond, I usually don't, so this is me explaining myself. Unrelated: I did something stupid several months ago...(actually over a year ago at this point)...that made me think of Matt's death. I was driving somewhere and I was falling asleep at the wheel and then all of a sudden I couldn't even remember if I fed the kitties before I left, so turned around to go home. In the turning around, nearly put myself in front of an 18 wheeler. I realize that's not what happened with Matt, but...did he make any indication that he had sleep issues? It's the main reason I don't hardly drive any more, can't even bring myself to drive to Maryland. Anyway, condolences, everyone.
  13. Eegad, Dusty like. But I think if I won the lottery, I'd probably just get a custom paint job for my Mazda3. And maybe buy a Mazdaspeed3. I really like hatchbacks. Maybe a WRXSTi. And maybe a Dodge Magnum Hemi. And maybe that one Porsche one I saw. And then custom paint jobs all around. And what was that one Audi that grawk suggested?
  14. That's not true. Look up "spinners". I'm definitely into spinners.
  15. Well that clinches it, doesn't it? That said, they really captured the vibe of covers from that era pretty well, don't you think? Big oops on the UPC though.
  16. I was stuck in the can at maximum coverage, so only caught it on the wane, but I still caught it, and it was cool! I'm so glad my co-worker urged me to go outside and experience it for myself, it's entirely different than seeing a picture of it, even partial.
  17. Wait, so "...when the moon hits your eye like a big piece of pie..." are the real lyrics?
  18. chips & salsa verde
  19. It's perfect just the way it is. Hue and shade. Not sure how much darker, but I would allow it, as long as it could still be called in the "pink" colour palette. I wanted this guitar purely for it's colour: ...alright, and because it looked "metal", but I hardly play any metal. But I didn't get it, because I wasn't about to buy a guitar, sight unseen, without any knowledge of its musical abilities, for US$3500.
  20. Oh my purple heart...It's so fuchsia! Too bad it's white on the inside, I'd probably get cat hair all over it. Uh...no, I can't afford it, he just knew I'd like the colour. Apparently the only other person who'd want a car in this colour -- the owner -- also has a Rolls Royce in this colour. Fuck that guy. XD
  21. Berilia, Tubul, Great T'Phon, and Jerakeen will be disappointed to hear. Unrelated: Look how happy this bug's arse is:
  22. There's four elephants and a turtle out of frame.
