  1. Steven Wilson, To the Bone RIYL the poppier side of prog, the proggier side of pop (Tears for Fears, XTC, etc.)
  2. Being unfamiliar with the vocabulary, myself, it is a little harder to get into, emotionally, at first, but as I scrutinize it enough to figure out what he's doing, it gets a little easier and fun.
  3. It's 12 albums so give me some time to get through it all, and that's just the first time -- I actually got it from HDTracks during the last sale. If you're unfamiliar with his music in general, the best word to describe it is "modern". It's very fusion-y, with lots of esoteric chord progressions and synth guitar. Also: that's cool! Who's you're teacher, if I may ask? It's not Bill DeLap, is it? His signature Carvin is one of those headless ones, and he was also famous for playing Steinbergers, which were also headless. So yeah, you got that right.
  4. Well if he becomes Matthew Sweet the pirate, I'm going to blame you.
  5. Happy birthday, Ian! (party favour noise) Come visit us more often, we miss you.
  6. Allan Holdsworth, The Man Who Changed Guitar Forever, the album collection. I like jazz. XD I was just posting elsewhere about how I had no idea how good he was while he was in Marillyn Manson until I found out he had a signature tele, and went looking.
  7. Trying to get through American Gods again before I cancel my Starz subscription.
  8. Finished the last of the takeout Nilgiri Korma. Damn that stuff is delicious.
  9. Amplifier, Trippin' with Dr. Faustus
  10. Understood -- Smooth Jazz is a whole 'nother genre. That's not jazz. Mikey is, of course, referring to jazz which is smooth. What I refer to as smoov jazz, for no other reason than to differentiate from that Muzak sounding tripe. (But I also recognize that it hasn't taken on as an expression.)
  11. Was: Klaus Schulze, Androgyn RIYL: Klaus Schulze, although this is one of his best new releases in years. It's very mellow, even for him. (A lot of his releases are either synthesizer noodling over a sequence, or weird collaborations with vocalists or other instrumentalists like cellists.) Is: Eno, Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy and Before and After Science
  12. Bjorn Riis, Forever Comes to an End RIYL: Pink Floyd, Pineapple Thief, Airbag (of course -- that's his band)
  13. Outstanding! Having had my bloodwork interpreted recently, I actually understood the ramifications of all those numbers.
  14. Oh, okay, it sounded exactly backwards.
  15. It is spelled with one L.
  16. It's probably a lot more inert than you're making it sound.
  17. Thanks for the explanation!
  18. I've used both the HRT and the HeadAmp Pico DAC/Amp with good results. Why do you bring up hiss? Have you had a problem with hiss before? That's usually an impedance mismatch. I've only ever had hiss if it was on the original recordings, or if it was a low impedance headphone out of a Ray Samuels headphone amp.
  19. I had some Nilgiri Korma the other day, and that was very green. I didn't have any digestive distress, so I probably pushed it a little too far earlier today by having pepper chicken from another Indian restaurant today. And now I am going to partake of similar fruits as to what Grem had earlier.
  20. Condolences
  21. Unholy carp!
  22. I think people will say, "Apple Airport Express", but I have no experience myself.
