  1. It's all about the inside temperature -- there are a minimum of two phases -- obtaining a desired internal temperature, and sustaining it for x amount of time.
  2. Bauhaus -- yup, that's pretty much all you need. Unless you like the "Slice of Life" stuff, in which case you may need to delve into Tones on Tail. They have a two-disk set called Everything which is, literally, everything they've ever done. And then there's Love & Rockets... Re: country -- I don't usually listen to country, but one of my best friends is in a country band, and I've quite taken to them. They have some delicious guitars and amps and microphones...it's just too bad they don't have a version of their quintessential song, "If I'd Shot You Sooner, I'd Be Out of Jail by Now". Lollers. They also do a lot of what I call retro revival -- think Sun Studios era rock'n'roll.
  3. "Nerve ends tic in flicker-book animation, one eye's closed in fear/anticipation, will it stay shut? will it ever open? 'what if?' 'what if?" Nerves... Tell-tale tongues lick at seven senses Brittle spittle sparks You are defenseless The fabric of dreams is ripped apart as you feel the twist of the shadowed dagger In your pumping heart Nerves!"
  4. Yeah, I agree, those two were perfect. I think I might need to go on a Bauhaus bender. I even like Burning from the Inside. Oh, and by the way, I'm somewhere in this video (I forgot that they actually released it):
  5. I saw him with his old group, Bauhaus, on the reunion tour. All we saw of him were various (clothed) close-ups of him vamping about somewhere offstage on a TV that they wheeled on stage for the entire first song. Dude knows how to make an entrance.
  6. I would think the McIntosh would at least be worth considering. But yeah, no Blue Hawaii, no KGSSHV, no...Luxman...

  8. I had mac&cheese earlier today.
  9. ^ ...has been making the rounds on Facebook this weekend -- apparently it's specifically designed for women. http://nerdist.com/st-vincent-ernie-ball-guitar-for-women/ On an unrelated note, I sent out two of four guitars today, so the downsizing begins. I am getting one in return, but it's a really nice one, and will take up 1/4 less space.
  10. I had a sammich earlier. Steak & cheese with extra onions and jalapeƱo peppers instead of bell peppers and chipotle mayo. Nicy spicy.
  11. Nice!
  12. That sounds like a very accurate prediction.
  13. maple pepper pork chops -- delicious
  14. Fostex TX-1 is US$30 on stupid deal of the day, today.
  15. Yeah, like our economy is doing that much better. Dollars are going to be fake Yen or Yuan soon.
  16. Or, be more methodical, and "game" it the entire time, so that one is ready for a large purchase at any time. I don't think Larry's doing it wrong, in fact I'm glad the conversation came up. I for one learned a few things already.
  17. American dollars are bordering on fake, too, don't take it personally/nationalistically/continentally.
  18. Very cool. I'm a big Focal fanboy, and can only fantasize about hearing a surround facility with Focal Utopias. One of these days, I'll get myself a pair of big Focals. My very realistic goal for a long time was a pair of simple 3-ways...Alto? Diva?...something like that.

Will do. Is it a movie? Will figure out later. "I (Who Have Nothing)" reminds me a bit of Nick Cave, for some reason. Which microphone is that, do you think? I see that it's an sE Electronics, but...do you think it's this one? Damn, it sounds good. And that backing track has some deliciously insane bass. I was wondering where I got this -- I watched it this last weekend -- what a great show, from right after Remain in Light (they play all four of my favourite songs from there -- Houses in Motion, Crosseyed and Painless, The Great Curve, Born under Punches...and I Zimbra and...and...), lots and lots of Adrian Belew and Tina Weymouth and...just loved everything about it. And a great version of Take Me to the River without them all being doped out of their minds like on SNL.
