  1. You never measured the Leatherheads, did you, Tyll?
  2. Uh...no. Portishead will still sound like Portishead, and Justin Bieber will still sound like Justin Bieber. It's asking a bit much to expect headphones to actually transform one's music. If you want a huge step up, listen to better music. (Yeah, every once in a while I got to say this.) (Fish era Marillion might sound like Genesis, though. And I mean that in the best possible way.)
  3. Oops, wait, wrong version... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_FaXMvrpsI
  4. Yeah, but also that he didn't have, was the implication.
  5. Those are a lot more than 2K, though, aren't they? I was actually trying to think of what the best closed currently-available headphones were, and I couldn't think of anything really top tier, like those or the Leatherheads. If I recall correctly, there was something else that sounded really boomy without adequate control (read: amplification), but can't for the life of me remember what. I'm sure there were lots of things. Oh, wait, I remember: the DT-770. I am not averse to a little EQ in those cases, though. It's easier to subtract bass than it is to add it, when it comes to headphones. Does Audio-Technica have anything out right now? Blue-Tin has the Raffinato for just under a thou, and the next one down is the 950 (which I vaguely recall prefering to the Raffinato). I did see JohnWMclean's post in the meet reactions thread over on head-fi, that's what triggered me to go look for comments here -- I didn't find any.
  6. Damn, I wish I had US$2K to drop just to hear these... link
  7. ^ Dusty approves. Me: on a Devics bender.
  8. Actually, Mosaic was probably their father.
  9. Happy Birthday! (party favour noise)
  10. Moar here.
  11. Happy Birthday, Ian! (party favor noise)
  12. Exhausted is a predicate adjective, therefore fucking is an adverb. Or an interjection. In the second, 'hell' is an expletive, so it'd probably be better to think of it as an expletive phrase. I'm not sure what the difference is between an interjection and an expletive, so don't ask me. I wasn't using two different words there for any particular reason.
  13. Congrats to Chris and Stephen on their weight loss. I need to start exercising again, I'm tired of carrying around all this extra weight. Mike, your vacation pics continue to blow my mind with how awesome they are. I really need to plan a less urban vacation for my next one. Knucks -- I agree with what Wayne said. I was thinking it when you posted it: life must go on, just like I said to Chris.
  14. Yeezh, Knucks. Just yeezh.
  15. Okay, go. (Keep it to ones I can watch please, just so I don't get too frustrated.)
  16. I know how it happens, too. It's a trap. They're deliberately designed not to give you your merchandise "every once in a while", so people try to get it, and end up toppling it over on themselves.
  17. Oh, and another one -- Ghost in the Shell: Stand-Alone Complex -- though I'd have to rewatch the whole series to be sure, as I do remember some that were weaker than others, but I don't remember thinking any of them were out-and-out bad. Mediocre, yes; that one "caught in a theater vortex" one was a little out there, as was the adventures of the killer robot one, but certainly not bad. There were only two seasons, right?
  18. Thank you, Todd.
  19. Did I forget Spaced? Yeah, I definitely have to add Spaced. Was going to make the techno phone ring my ringtone for a while. Also: Archer.
  20. Well, no, I took it as a fundraiser -- I mean, they will raise some money, won't they?
  21. Condolences, dude. I'm glad you still have the others, that will help. But having it happen like that without warning is tough.
  22. This is all kinds of wonderful, particularly her covers of "Mother's Talk" and "A Criminal Mind", but I really like everything, including the single for "The Art of War".
  23. Yes. And seconds would be called Off Beats.
