  1. Oh, I was just making a note to ask you the next time I came up.
  2. Thanks. Didn't realize he did all of those. Was looking to see if that one was intended to be a Baba Yaga's Hut, or just vaguely resembled it. I would love to see Baba Yaga's Hut done full-on in his style.
  3. (makes a note of it)
  4. Seriously. You wouldn't know it from listening to my music, but he was an enormous influence on my early playing. Tracks like "Child in Time", "Lazy" where he went crazy on the drawbars, and "April" is one of my favourite rock-meets-classical pieces ever. Gonna go play "Before I Forget" in memorium.
  5. Dan -- that's a fairly concise synopsis if my initial response. Yeah, but then he's not going to learn anything about linux. I'll recommend Kubuntu to him.
  6. So I have a friend who wants to get into linux -- he's extremely technically savvy, but wants a Windows look-&-feel -- any recommendations?
  7. Jerry's Pizza -- boy will Jerry be pissed when he finds out. (badumchik)
  8. Turned in my acceptance letter. Ran into a problem -- couldn't get my Epson scanner working on linux. Which is bad, because one of the reasons he hired me was to administrate linux boxes. Oh well, I'll figure it out.
  9. It's like surround sound, only...surroundier.
  10. Any idea who the artist is? And yes, that was an amazing pole dance routine. I wish I was her. (Mostly for the muscle tone. Starts thinking about getting a pole...then thinks better of it. Then apologizes for making people have that mental image.) Sorry.
  11. Wait, what? I missed that part. That just makes it better. My only concern is all that white pasty skin that hasn't seen the light of day might spontaneously combust. (Specifically, I am thinking of Cristina Scabbia.)
  12. QFT. Eloquently said, Dan.
  13. Yeezh, Jacob. Just yeezh.
  14. Yeah, I knew you'd get it, but then spritzer went and was like "yeah, I been thinking about that"...which of course meant the concept had some serious merit behind it, even if it was an "out there" concept (Jude -- take note -- that is an "out there" concept; iPodPJ's was beyond "out there"). Actually, the concept of Isobaric would require two bass drivers, so at least 3 drivers, total. link
  15. You want something really different, read this. (It gets a bit porny in parts, obviously.)
  16. I was actually thinking of Isobaric (it's a concept -- I learned of it from Wilson Benesch, but that by no means they own the patent on it, it's just that -- of the speakers on my personal radar -- they are the only ones I am aware of) bass drivers in a 2-way system. Also, was just causing trouble, can't imagine how that would hold up in a headphone (I.E. the weight issue), unless you went IEM.
  17. Someone needs to emulate Wilson Benesch's isobaric speakers in headphones. You know, for TEH BASS.
  18. Yeezh. Of course you were just about at the halfway point, of course you were. Me: filled out a bunch of paperwork. Giggidy giggidy. Yes, I'm excited about paperwork. Not because paperwork excites me, but because of what it PORTENDS.
  19. That sounds \m/ AWESOME \m/. Also, there's now a steampunk cruise.
  20. I do not, and I will.
  21. (makes a 'Kessel Run' reference)
  22. Lots of Joss Stone. She got soul.
