Yeah, records are pretty much the epitome of analog, and listening on a digital source -- that's the funneh.

The ambient/IDM thread.
I still cherish my Drexciya CD's. (takes off hat, bows head for a moment)

Why is there a bottle floating in that last pic? It doesn't look like he's holding it.

What are you listening to Part the Third
103.7 "The River" out of Richmond on the recommendation of my ex.

You know, that's right on the edge between "too painful to watch without clenching" and "high-larious". The multiple sunglasses push it towards the latter.

Yeezh, man.

What are you listening to Part the Third
Oh holy shit, are you in for a ride. I'd recommend working your way backwards in time, I.E.: My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky Soundtracks for the Blind The Great Annihilator Love of Life White Light from the Mouth of Infinity etc. They...uh...they're kind of all over the place. From neo-folk to psychedelia to experimental to drone...there were even flashes of the style that would be Angels of Light -- probably my favorite descriptor of a musical genre ever, "Death Folk". Yeah, don't get me wrong, I will still listen to their entire album, as I believe in at least trying to hear it as the artists intended (unlike King Crimson, which I will edit out their improvisational stuff that I don't like), and I believe it yields an entirely different listening experience than listening to it edited.

What are you listening to Part the Third
I don't know, man, I don't really dig the more scat based improvisational stuff like most of "The Seer" -- despite my reputation, I really don't listen to "weird for the sake of weird" -- but I really like other portions, like "The Avatar". That said, I really like it when they get all tantric on the longer songs, like "Apostate".

I'm over it. He's an idiot. When you start an email with "I don't mean to sound like an ass, but..." -- guess what? I'm fully expecting you to sound like an ass. In fact, you probably sound more like an ass because of my expectations than you would if you hadn't said that. He ended the argument with, "I don't have time for this." -- Exactly! With that one sentence, he told me exactly how important this is.

That is the greatest thing ever.

Most rugged, reasonably priced mouse?
Agreed. My Microcenter does indeed have about 5 different varieties, but they are the isolated exception, and none out to try. But they're charging $10 more for the Logitech one, so I'm tempted to buy it online...hence why they don't have them in b&m stores.

Swans have a new album? Fucking hell! Me: been listening to Synthetica non-stop in the car, gonna try to see them next month, I think this might be my favourite album of theirs since Old World Underground, Where Are You Now. But I'll be listening to the new Swans as soon as I can find it. Wait, what? They reformed? Fucking hell!

I want to know what she's looking at, but somewhere towards the latter half, I think she's acting. The first half is excellent, however. Anything that can take my eye off those nipples has gotta be good. Artistic interpretation of Alastair Reynolds' "melding plague"?

Had an email argument with my boss. Such a douchebag. I hate him. He expressed to me how unhappy he was that there wasn't movement on a certain front, when in fact he should be happy that my priorities are straight and that I'm concentrating on the front that will allow our company to keep the contract.

Wow, Wayne, you nailed it. Or rather, you nailed the description of -- if you're like me -- not nailing it.

Also, is there such a thing as a decent Bluetooth mouse? Why are there so few? I can't imagine that there aren't more people like me -- who are unwilling to give up their USB ports.

G5's have gone the way of the Trackman, so I got a G400 instead. Should be (does maths) 80 times as good, right?

I don't yet have any, but I will be getting that one. Will let you know. Chris (Dreadhead) has one of the older ones, though, the one with the light ring around the trackball. I'm pretty sure he's pretty happy with it, but don't know if it was durable for him.
