  1. Finished Reamde and Absolution Gap (his weakest), started Thirteen (Kelley Armstrong). Can't decide whether or not to start Chasm City or Fool Moon. Can't decide what to do about the new Castle book -- kindle version is only a dollar or two less expensive than the hardback version. Will probably wait for the paperback this time. Curses to the book companies for winning that particular battle.
  2. Fax: on.
  3. Kabob, from a store rated 26. I got one of the specials and I think I got skrewed -- I think I got one skewer when I was supposed to get two. That one skewer was very very good, though. I think I'll go back tonight and complain.
  4. Going to both? I'm jealous!
  5. Which stop? I ask because then you can go Vienna/McLean/Falls Church if you went orange line.
  6. ...but you kept? What? I was never very good at biology. White blood cells? Plaque? Oh and congrats on the other thing.
  7. (wiggles eyebrows suggestively a la Groucho)
  8. Indeed. Spot on.
  9. True Blood Oh, this show is the best. "It's like watching Animal Planet, yeah? Any second, she's gonna bite his head off, I swear."
  10. Yeah, records are pretty much the epitome of analog, and listening on a digital source -- that's the funneh.
  11. I still cherish my Drexciya CD's. (takes off hat, bows head for a moment)
  12. 54 is way too young. That voice will not be replaced. Story, grawk?
  13. That's pretty ironic.
  14. Nope. What do you have time period set to? It's on the left.
  15. True Blood, season one -- finally catching up with this shit
  16. Why is there a bottle floating in that last pic? It doesn't look like he's holding it.
  17. Okay, that Dope Zebra video is now my favourite thing evar. I was already laughing when they got to the reveal. Also, lollers @ that tatoo. Lolly-lolly-lollers.
  18. 103.7 "The River" out of Richmond on the recommendation of my ex.
  19. You know, that's right on the edge between "too painful to watch without clenching" and "high-larious". The multiple sunglasses push it towards the latter.
  20. Yeezh, man.
  21. Oh holy shit, are you in for a ride. I'd recommend working your way backwards in time, I.E.: My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky Soundtracks for the Blind The Great Annihilator Love of Life White Light from the Mouth of Infinity etc. They...uh...they're kind of all over the place. From neo-folk to psychedelia to experimental to drone...there were even flashes of the style that would be Angels of Light -- probably my favorite descriptor of a musical genre ever, "Death Folk". Yeah, don't get me wrong, I will still listen to their entire album, as I believe in at least trying to hear it as the artists intended (unlike King Crimson, which I will edit out their improvisational stuff that I don't like), and I believe it yields an entirely different listening experience than listening to it edited.
  22. I don't know, man, I don't really dig the more scat based improvisational stuff like most of "The Seer" -- despite my reputation, I really don't listen to "weird for the sake of weird" -- but I really like other portions, like "The Avatar". That said, I really like it when they get all tantric on the longer songs, like "Apostate".
  23. I'm over it. He's an idiot. When you start an email with "I don't mean to sound like an ass, but..." -- guess what? I'm fully expecting you to sound like an ass. In fact, you probably sound more like an ass because of my expectations than you would if you hadn't said that. He ended the argument with, "I don't have time for this." -- Exactly! With that one sentence, he told me exactly how important this is.
  24. That is the greatest thing ever.
