I've only been aware of Unwoman for a couple years now. She plays cello live for Stripmall Architecture (formerly Halou). On top of that, my sister was aware of her, too, and knew that I'd like her, so went out of her way to tell me about her. So I credit my sister. Also, she's so cute. I'm sorry, I know that's shallow of me, but I could sit here and watch her yelling down to her mother and just trying to figure out if the camera is on -- to me, that's better than a boxxy moment. But then she plays music. \m/ Rawk. \m/

Breaking Orbit ReverbNation page -- proggy metal w/clean vocals. (Dream Theater -level metal, not full-on extreme metal.)

Thanks for the advice, and thanks for the previous link.

Perhaps, it, too, has something to do with the Appalachians? Drug runners are too lazy to climb mountains? West Virginians can't afford drugs?

Thanks for the (largely emotional) support. That is pretty much in line with what the doctor told me -- that she can survive for years (has in fact, probably, already survived for years) with beginning of kidney failure, it's largely where my morbid mind goes when it has to think about it on a daily basis that gets to me. I have been "pretty good" about not letting her run out of water for more than 12 hours, now I need to be extra special good. Car, on the other hand, was fixed today -- no more overheating. The air conditioner still kicks out (stops cooling) at stoplights and in stop-and-go traffic -- a friend of mine has the theory that it's because the idle is too low -- any other theories? I'm going to take it to the shop tomorrow. Think I need to take some time off.

Shouldn't they not be made out leather? Palm leaves, perhaps? Hemp? J/K...

Linux OS decision
Dusty Chalk replied to CarlSeibert's topic in GoRedwings19's Computer Help Hotline
Understood. And repeated. Just wanted to clarify on what I meant by "learning" linux. -
Took my car in for standard service (oil, ATF, radiator fluid), they got some air in and ended up taking several hours. They still haven't fixed it, so going back tomorrow. Found out my senior citizen cat is beginning to show signs of kidney failure. Really not looking forward to her leaving me just yet. On the bright side, I assumed it was already the case (she drinks and pees a lot), and assumed there was nothing that I could do about it, but he gave me a couple of prescription diets that are easier on the kidneys, so...there ya go. Should be able to keep her around for a couple more years. Stumbled on a really nice brick oven pizza with beer taps (23 of them! All very geeky) for dinner. They had Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro! I haven't even seen that in bottle form yet! Nice end to a really crappy day.

It's not so much that they are all equal, as that everyone reacts differently to different drugs. I know people who swear by Zyrtec, and yet I would never want to give up my Allegra D. And yeah, totally forgot about that -- that working "in a haze" feeling is probably from the Benadryl. Highly recommend getting professionally treated and getting some prescription strength drugs.

Linux OS decision
Dusty Chalk replied to CarlSeibert's topic in GoRedwings19's Computer Help Hotline
Sorry, should have been clearer -- my friend is extremely tech savvy -- writes drivers, kernel mods, etc. But all experience is in Windows, wants to learn other OSsesses. Doesn't need to learn system administration, wants everything out of the way as much as possible, he knows how to dive under the hood. So it's not so much handheld that he wants as requires very little maintenance. -
Distortion? It's one of my pet projects to create a better digital distortion simulation, the starting point of which is a mathematical "best guess". Sorry, kind of off topic, but I think this one has more or less run its course, so thought I'd drop the question here. Uh...like it's hot.

iGrado I probably should have answered this in 2007, as I think I was already aware of them at that point. I miss JBLoudG20.

If so, I missed it. And yes, they look closed.

Well sure, it helped you to win hands in poker, but the real question is whether or not he is man enough not to hold it against you in the future. Good luck with that. Also: remind me never to play poker with you. I've already made it a rule never to play poker with my (now ex-) boss -- he's kept a poker face with me IRL too many times. Not that I'd ever play poker, anyways, I just enjoy saying that.

The most likely culprit is a certain kind of growth in the ductwork -- I forget whether it's a bacteria or a mold. Those things hardly ever get cleaned out enough. But that's just a first thought of things to check that didn't seem to be on your list. In my case, because I am over-the-top, 4+, allergic to mold, that would kill* me, so YMMV. *No, not literally.

Yeah, I've been in that seat before. I knew I slouched before, but had no idea just how bad I was until that flight. I swear I had to skooch up about once an hour. Suxors.

Unholy carp! Someone made the entire Garbage v2.0 album in 8-bit:

I think you can see me in this pic. Might be my friend that I went with, hard to tell with the distortion (he's blonde, I'm shaved of head) : Bottom right, 2nd row (we were in the 3rd row, IIRC, but someone could have been sitting down). Porcupine Tree, Radio City Music Hall, October 14 2010.
