  1. I thought Netflix uses Silverlight. (Which is why I can't use Netflix on my linux build.)
  2. Sure there is -- pop open the laptop, replace the headphone amplifier with a good one.
  3. I want to go to someone else's reunion.
  4. Budapest Georgia, Budapest Missouri, or...? And who's playing there, or is it a headphone meet? ...or a raffle?
  5. How about a smaller notebook? That's the main reason I got the one I did. A lot of weight is in the case, which is a direct function of the screen size, so I got a 1080p 15.6" laptop for exactly that reason. It weighs about the same as a regular laptop, but has the screen real estate of a larger, "desktop replacement" laptop.
  6. I have been thinking about this myself, and the only problem I have with a nice pair of efficient, easily driven phones (VTG's or Sony MDR-V6/-7506's), and my M-Audio Transport and the HeadAmp Pico Slim is...cooling. The Sony Vaio is notorious for running hot, so I really should probably whip out everything every time. Alright, and the USB connector -- it'd be nice if they had right-angle USB connectors. I know they do, but I haven't bothered to go out of my way to obtain one yet. So I do. Do you now? (gives Dan the knowing smirk and the eyebrow wiggle)
  7. Yeah, I'd be pissed if I were paying for prime and getting that kind of service.
  8. Note, also, the boom mic. (scratches chin)

  10. Or you could get a Mac Mini and a Displayport adapter.
  11. Tried the Funky Llama malbec last night, a cheap ($6/bottle) malbec. If you set your expectations on "cheap malbec", you will be pleasantly surprised -- I was. It's not as full-bodied (or even as dark or purple) as other malbecs I've had, but flavor-wise, it didn't err offensively in any direction -- I would say it was less on the fruity side of the fruity/earthy scale than the Bodega Norton non-reserva...yet still fruity. So yeah, will probably get another bottle to share with my sister and her friends on Sunday. If she still drinks wine.
  12. That's an awesome pic.
  13. I have this track stuck in my head for some reason. I love the way it starts out all serene and chant-y, and slowly evolves into this noise freak-out. Laurie Anderson sample doesn't hurt.
  14. Goddamnit, I forgot to buy something with that Crestron coupon.
  15. Community -- Competitive Wine Tasting -- I love this show. "Hey, look, you can take a class in how to tell a joke." Annie: "No, don't take that, I dropped it after 'Setups'. The professor was so old..." (long pause, followed by nothing)
  16. I'll give it a try then.
  17. Video editing or OpenCL or Cuda programming would be the only other reasons. Just curious -- what's wrong with it? I've actually found getting into computers easier (and more fun) with time, they seem to be more conducive to actually getting into, rather than trying to keep users out.
  18. That's a keeper.
  19. Yeah, except I typically get home around 12:30 (actually, later most of the time, and much earlier every once in a while). So by the time I pour myself a glass, feed the kitties, do litter box, and any other meneal chores, it's only like 1 in the morning. I will want to: have drunk the wine, allow it to go through my system, and then take my meds before I go to bed. So I definitely do not have hours. Hence the interest in aerators. I mean, the best I can do is pour a glass before I go to work, put it up on the shelf (out of reach of the kitties), but then it will have breathed for 8+ hours (more likely 12-ish). Isn't that overdoing it? Or should I actually give that a try? Wish I had thought of that today.
  20. This one (Gorm)? Holds 8 per shelf? Also looking at this 180-bottle one, this 60-bottle one, and this one that looks like it holds less than a bottle (I am just looking at that last one). I intend to put my beer in there, too -- wine racks will hold bombers, won't they? I'm still tempted by the J.K. Adams. They had me at "tinker toys". EDIT: And this one, just because it's less than US$1/bottle.
  21. Yeah, I also stumbled across the Nuance, may give that a try. Or maybe just an individual decanter. But I'm impatient, too.
  22. Found two threads, one on the other on interestingly enough. Why should I go one way or the other? I understand the value of a decanter -- lets the wine breathe, albeit in a controlled fashion, while cat hair and asbestos doesn't settle into it. I seem to remember someone (tyrion?) getting something and having a positive opinion of it, but it's not coming up while searching for "aerator'. Something like a hand-held or bottletop device like this one. So...any new opinions on this? I don't have room for that whole let it drip thing, but I could probably find room for a proper decanter/carafe thingy. But I'll probably go with the decanting pourer if no-one pipes up with something that doesn't involve scorpions or shovels or headless women.
