Joy Formidable, "Whirring" through Paulstretch, x8.04 -- all 39 minutes of it. I tried putting Shape of Despair through it, but it sounded the same. I am from this moment forward playing all my tracks through paulstretch. Sure, it might take me 6 hours to listen to a 45 minute album, but it's better than 'ludes, man. Guaranteed to have a lower heart-rate by the time it's done. And lower blood pressure.

Last night -- tried Alma Negra -- mostly black bottle, 70% malbec, so I had to try it. Not bad, but there are still other malbecs I prefer. Will try to let it breathe more.

Long Distance Calling -- instrumental prog/post-rock, very cool. Might be a little bit too "jam band" for proper proggers. But I like it -- it's nicely organic, a la Timeout Drawer.

I want to see the same scene a couple seconds later when everyone's high-fiving each other, and doing the potato and whatnot.

I meant on the iPad -- agreeing with Sherwood, essentially. But I think you're right -- at least, they should start with the higher-end models like the Airs and the MBP's. But it's almost like the iPads and the iTouches are a completely different market. Instant-on is a game-changer. Ah. I actually knew that, but hadn't thought things through. The science behind just fonts, for example, is pretty well thought out, and targeted specifically at pixels and pixel characteristics, so I know you're right (at least, in your underlying point, that resolution needs to be taken into account).

How about just moar resolution, without necessarily going all the way to "retina-ish" display.

Nice engraving, Jim! Vary cool. Did you order it online? I.E. is that what it will look like if I order something with the head-case logo? Oh, and me: Gorm (7-shelf) wine rack

Miley Cyrus EDIT: 33 minutes of awsum sauce. Ya, rly. EDIT #2: It's a whole meme -- cf. slowitup. EDIT #2b: It's open-source software (see comments). EDIT #3: The downside is that listening to these tracks takes 8x as long, so it's 8x the time waster that just taking the occasional break is. Ah well, back to work.

There's a 'Maybe that's where he...buried...' joke in there somewhere.

See? Cables do matter.

Finished The Awakening, started The Reckoning.

DC area date is tonight. Love Shpongle. But don't get DJing gigs. Love "spectacle". Might go.

911: I was at work. I thought my co-worker was joking when he came in and said someone just flew a plane into one of the Twin Towers. I smiled* at him, waiting for the punchline. The expression on his face told me there was not going to be a punchline. I tried to find info on the web, but the intarwebz were completely flooded. On my way to work, I took one of my usual routes which takes me through the Pentagon parking lot (27 -> parking lot -> 110, for those familiar with the area). If I had been maybe an hour later, I probably would have witnessed the plane coming in, as there's a small section of 395 where you're facing directly at the Pentagon while driving North. I'm kind of glad I didn't. Lunch was kind of surreal, we didn't realize everyone else had gone home. Tysons Corner was a ghost town. *To this day, I still feel bad about this.

Me: Nice, one of the few benefits for living overseas. And: just plain noice.

Buh? (wanders off to look up Shpongletron)

Comments? Always looking for good interpretations.

That's the single fastest book I ever read (in a day). Me: Finished The Summoning, started The Awakening

Finishing this (one glass) -- still outstanding.

Also not an iPad owner -- you should be able to just "beam" the document to the printer. Bring up the document, then do a file => and see if there is something like "beam" under "save as" "print to" or "send to" or something like that?

Hurray! Ding dong that son of a bitch is dead. Sure, they will instantly replace him, but do you know what? I'm still going to revel in the good feelings for a bit. That much of discontinuity in operations, reduce their confidence a tad, their leadership loses some of its charisma...all good. I wouldn't worry about his secrets, he kept a lot of them close to his chest -- they probably would have to change plans anyway, in a lot of cases.

That's a stretch. :rimshot:

Alamos Seleccion malbec -- outstanding. On par with the Norton Reserva. I honestly don't know which I like better.
-
Please tell me you poured those all in at once, two bottles in each hand, like a bartender. ORLY? (makes a sour face) Kidding, it actually sounds good.

Scarcity of Miracles, the track they have on blip.tv from here. Wow. That's pretty, almost AOR, the only thing that saves it from crossing over into yacht rock territory is ...alright, I don't know. Can't quite put my finger on it, but it's the bed of "thinking man's music" -- mostly Tony Levin and Jakszyk, I think -- Fripp doesn't do much more than some ornamentation (although behind the scenes I'm pretty sure he's a lot more influential). Also puts me in mind of Sunday All Over The World, for some reason, without the scat-/jazz-based vocals. But, you know, it's Fripp, Gavin, Levin, et al, plus it'll be available on DVD-A, so I'll be getting it.

Polynesian pizza, dusty style -- take off the shrimp, leave the pineapple and bacon, put on barbecue chicken and roasted garlic. The garlic was a bit of an experiment, I think I'll ask them to go easy next time.
