Y+B Malbec 2009 -- also pretty good. I'm going to start rating wines by how cold I need to drink them in order to enjoy them. This one is about 65 Fahrenheit. The Hogue Gewurtztraminer that I had earlier ("...in the year", not "...in the evening") was at least 72, if not higher.

My only complaint is that it doesn't flow like a concept album -- if I didn't already know it was a concept album, I wouldn't pick up that it's a concept album. And by that, I mean the breaks between the songs, that's all. I'm sure I'll get over it, there are several songs that are already stuck in my head.

That wouldn't be the first headphone accused of having a "reverb-y" effect -- I want to say the W2002? And there was another one, but I'm not remembering...I think Juan may have been one of the people to have heard it -- Juan (if you're reading this) -- do you remember of what I speak? Me, personally, never heard it, even on the headphones in question. I guess, having spent much time with Alesis Quadraverbs and other reverbs, I tend to gloss over them, and am able to hear the underlying source music. It's an interesting exercise -- to listen to the same thing through a variety of different reverbs, and then "dry" -- it gives your mind the information it needs to perform the subtraction, as it were. Which is funny, because I think I'm much more sensitive to phase smearing. Hey, Tyll -- where is the energy being stored, in the driver?

The box can't be Steve's work -- I didn't think he was into that tongue-in-groove stuff at all. No, seriously, really nice stuff, as always!

Noise canceling headphones for portable DVD player

So the Sonys kind of sucked? -
I keep seeing ads for their products in the British high-fi magazines (...Choice and ...News), and for some reason thought they were exclusively a that-side-of-the-pond thing. Didn't realize I had access to them, have been intrigued, may give them a try. But I think most of us are computer based at this point, meaning we use whatever computer is available to us, so all's we needs is/are DACses. And possibly the routing things whatever they're called...Squeezebox, Transporter, etc.

Wait, what? When? I thought you said the top-of-the-line one was good and listenable? That'll teach me not to eat pizza before bed... -
Continued luck and forward progress and whatnot.

Correct. The HD580/HD600/HD650 are roughly in the same league -- the others are different animals altogether.

No, no, I understand that. It's a patience thing -- once I pour the glass, I want it NAO. It's an effort not to drink it right away. I've had the best luck when I pour a glass first thing when I get home from work, put it up on a shelf, forget about it, go about my evening, feed the kitties, etc. Then much later get around to drinking it. The Final Punto was just a meh wine -- it needed to be chilled to subdue some of the flavors I didn't like. With the Y+B, it was back to just the patience thing. So in essence, I'm agreeing with you, at least in theory. What is common wisdom for optimal drinking temperature for wines?

Nop(e). Bummer about hubby. Sending goodish waves in a general Western and slightly Southern direction. Me: took my mom out for her birthday. It was nice. She was time-limited, so she didn't have a chance to hem and haw and make departure painful like she usually does. Really nice.

Oh, that might be a configuration issue (I.E. perhaps one can't mix and match sticks. Or something.). I do now see how that might lead to failure.
-
Not sure how this would work -- 32-bit machines can only address up to between 3GB and 4GB. 64-bit machines can, of course, address much more. I don't know where the 2GB number came from.

Yellow+Blue malbec 2008 -- pretty good straight out of the fridge, but have a second (1/2) glass warming to be sure.
-
What? You do realize that they have less bass emphasis than the DT770's. Right? Well, anyway, whatever. Just don't be perpetuating that without having heard them for yourself. Re: HD600 vs. HD650 -- I agree with Tyll, they're pretty close. Especially well-amped. And remember that headphone position (including how far they are from the ears, I.E. as a result of clamping force) has a lot to do with sound quality.

I lollered. They should start doing that in the margin -- "Your cart is empty, (No) Part of your order qualifies for free shipping! You need to give us $25 mo' moneys to qualify for free shippings!"
