Flash drives
I've heard that one should avoid no-name flash drives because then they'll only last a couple of refreshes -- is that true? I was going to get one of the $10-ish 16G ones. Are there any brands I should avoid? Corsair, Kingston, OCZ, Patriot, Crucial, Transcend, IPSG, Lexar, Sandisk, etc.? E.G., I was told to avoid anything like these.

Post the last thing you bought!
Update: another T-shirt from woot: I actually lollered, so I had to get it. I make that joke all the time (not necessarily with staples, but the "gesundheit" part).

Post the last thing you bought!
Each one takes 2 AA's, so 6 total. Re: battery life -- that's one of the reasons I got it -- LED's are much more efficient. I have some LED lights that I got from Ikea that -- after I unplug them (they're outlet powered with no batteries) -- visibly take several seconds to die down. I'm going to freecycle all my other flashlights (no, I don't have any worth sending anywhere).

Phiaton
No, but you can get a Phaeton to match your Phiaton...as long as you get it in red or black (because black matches anything). Unless you mean the black one -- which will match anything, so yes.

Me: AKG 271 II Second to last: Stanley 3-in-1 LED flashlight Pretty cool -- when they're together, the switches are synchronized so that any one of them turn all 3 on or off; when they're not, they're individualized.

Post what you're watching
I thought Sports Night was an amazing show, probably one of the best ever (after Whedon's trinity), but not because of Peter Krause, although he was good in it. It's wonderfully executed by a tight ensemble cast, the writing is superb beyond words ("How much do you love me now?" being one particularly memorable highlight), the dialog is deft and realistic, the chemistry is palpable...I could go on and on. I need to get that back from the person I lent it to and watch it again. I still haven't seen Six Feet Under.

Official Head-Case Audio Confessional (post your (audio)sins here)
Forgive me father, for I have sinned. I have too much gears, and I don't sell shit, and I don't even listen to half the gears I have, and all I do is sit around and listen to music with some of my gears, and not even the best ones.

slow forum
Best Christmas Tree Ever. And Baconhitler looks familiar. And I have heard "niggardly" used in conversation. The old lady was in more danger because the person to whom she was referring was (a) within hearing distance, and ( actually knew what the word means. But it was true, so nothing happened.

Is the '05 the latest one? If so, yes, I have tried it. Meh -- don't remember much sibilance, but have to admit to not listening to Ms. Minogue on it (was listening on a friend's system, he's not into Kylie).

What are you listening to Part Two
I saw her live. Her band started playing "Sweet Home Alabama", and she shrugged. They went back and forth a little bit, and it was established that she was too young to know that song (and apparently didn't listen to classic rock radio). Made me feel old. Still...love her.

Nice! I was just reading the "last thing you bought" thread, so I was still in that mindset...didn't get it right away.

- How has your rig changed in 2008? And do you have any plans for 2009?
No moar new gears approvals in '09!- Phiaton
Yeah, I also tend to be not as sensitive to sibilance as a lot of others are. I find the Sony MDR-7506/-V6 bright, but once I get used to them (e.g. on travel, listening to them exclusively after not having listened to them in a while), I find them quite listenable.- What are you listening to Part Two
Boys and Girls and B- Post the last thing you bought!
Congratulations, and welcome to team analog. Alright, technically I'm not on team analog, I'm more on team almost on team analog. But I'm a fan of the sound, so there.- Phiaton
PS I think I will get these -- I might put the HP-2 drivers in them if they sound crap. It'd be a relatively inexpensive, very nice enclosure.- Phiaton
Koss Pro 4AAAAAAAAA (I lose count every time, I think there's three o' them Ayes)? I haven't tried them yet myself, but there are people (whose opinions I don't totally discount) who like them.- Satriani Sues Coldplay
No, he's saying that he knows this about Satriani's audience how? It's one of them "overgeneralizations". His appeal to Sherwood might be as a technician only (although I get the impression there's no appeal whatsoever). His appeal to me is as an artist, so it making it sound like his universal appeal doesn't apply to me is simply fallacious, I don't care how long he spent with his annoying guitar player/Satriani fan. That just makes him more predisposed towards being predisposed...erm...biased, that is.- Anyone Going to CES?
Well, keep an eye out for Tyll, even if he doesn't respond to your post.- Phiaton
I don't know -- I don't see anyone complaining about how good the Audio Technica Japanese imports look. As long as they sound good.- question about sony qualia 010
if you hear nice sound then you have right fit. And you must acquit.
