  1. It depends on how much time is worth to you. It's certainly not necessary. UNLESS YOU HAVE A NEED FOR SPEED!!!1! Which I do.
  2. I have zero experience with either, but from what I've read, this is one of those "you can't go wrong" choices -- they both will probably sound very good. (I tend to like Hi-Fi Choice's reviews.) But..you're talking systems, right? Because the Headroom Harbeth system comes with amps, and the AVI's are active, right?
  3. Holy shit, I think I know those people. And that's probably his brother in the back with the sign.
  4. I have to admit, the Shures that I used to use sounded distinctly better with an outboard amp, but I have since switched to not commuting...I mean, to Etymotic ER-6i's, which sound quite good without additional amplification.
  5. Not likely.
  6. I'm a believer (of tube burn-in).
  7. Noise rejection is cumulative.
  8. Dude, that looks real, made my stomache turn over.
  9. 2TB Cavalry external eSata, $349 w/rebate
  10. Really? Another year older? Another year closer to adulthood? Wow, they grow up right before our eyes. Congrats, have a good one &c.!!!1!
  11. M-Audio Transit + some active monitors, perhaps Quad 12L's if you don't mind needing a sub (which you should get later, otherwise it will put you over), or something else that has level control (not the Mackie HR824 -- they have input sensitivity controls, which is not the same thing, although with the Mackies, then you wouldn't need a sub).
  12. You don't remember William Goody?
  13. More believable?
  14. Your scrobble is empty.
  15. Are you kidding?
  16. That was foggin' brilliant.
  17. :smirk:
  18. I want this one:
  19. That :wtfhorsey: smiley is just too fucked up to use. Ever. For anything.
  20. If you end up being unhappy with those, try Pure Silver Sound PSS Sextets (link) or White Zombie something-or-other (link). I've used the single-ended of the former, and intend to try the latter (I need shielded -- Pure Silver Sound don't do shielded, unfortunately).
