  1. Yeah, but ear plugs still color the sound -- quite a bit more than any interconnect or resistor will.
  2. Never heard of it, but sounds like something I'd be interested in. (wanders off to look up 'Sound Practices Magazine') You know you can buy it?
  3. I only mentioned it, because it's one of the higher amp draws. And yeah, my point was that it only had two prongs in a perfectly legal manner. Toaster ovens, too. In fact, other than my high-fi, music, and computer gear, I can't think of too much I have that has three prongs.
  4. Huzzah-buzzah.
  5. They're pervasive up here and in Japan, at least. Even vacuum cleaners have two-prong plugs.
  6. How long is that sale going on? Do I need a coupon? 33% is pretty good, I'll have to go look and see if I can find 3 disks I want.

Not at all, I get that all the time. I suspect it's my complete lack of maturity online that throws people. 's'truth.

I've been typing with a QWERTY keyboard since 1980 or so, ain't about to switch now. I guess it's a function of how well you know the keyboard already. It might trick you into concentrating and getting to know the keyboard better, so you may surpass where you would have been had you just maintained the status quo, however I have my doubts as to whether you would surpass yourself from where you would have been, had you concentrated on learning QWERTY keyboard. The theoretical ergonomic improvements (and lack of mechanical impediments) would provide small improvements at best.
  9. I love that commercial.
  10. It went up to $185 today, which is still a pretty great price. Also: 2 Terrabyter -- USB 2.0, so best for backups, but still...one should have backups...
  11. It's just an expression.
  12. He's got tubes up the pitootie.
  13. My point was, depending on how you phrased the PM, Jude may have gotten the same incorrect impression. Perhaps someone should start a thread to recommend making the site viable on smartphones with internet access besides the iPhone. Is there a "Suggestions" forum? Or perhaps just take a poll, asking people if it works on their smartphone or not, and which one they have.
  14. And if none of that works, bring a staple gun.
  15. "...about this matter..." is too vague -- before your previous post, I thought you meant about ad-blocking. You mean about the ads.
  16. Sure, why not? What's the difference between this and any other component that doesn't have a separate ground lead (I.E. 2 prong plug vs. 3 prong plug)?

  20. Hey, did you know there was a sequel to that? Also, the original site.
  21. Dude, you live in Hawaii, the place that other people go to, for vacations. Me -- not planning anything any time soon, just finally got caught up on a lot of of negative vacation accrual, so not planning anything until next year or so. I do take off a day here and there, but it's mostly to get caught up around the house. The last vacation I had was back in October, went to San Fran to visit with my sisters.
  22. Actually, it says "set", not "box" -- I wouldn't be surprised if they're just offering a package discount if you get all of them (looks like it's priced such that you get the EP for free), like the RCA Living Stereo sets. 4AD explicitly mentions a box set in the context of the Japanese mini-LP covers, which would make more sense. I wrote them, guess I better just hope they see my email. Oh, and for anime fans, are you as excited as I am that they're coming out with three Kenji Kawai compilations? Unfortunately, I only see a couple tracks each from GITS, GITS2:I, and Spirited Away (from googling), but at least they have "Reincarnation" (one of my favorite tracks ever).
  23. Also, aren't electrostatics more sensitive to fine particulate matter (tiny hairs, etc.) than dynamic drivers? I'm not saying dynamic drivers aren't sensitive to stuff in the air (I distinctly remember a certain L3000...), but because of the high voltages, isn't it worse for electrostatics?
