  1. R10's, replace the lambskin with velour pads.
  2. "Bass heavy R10's" "Bassy" -- what is this shit? I realize I'm being pedantic, but the correct terminology is "bass-light" and "less bass-light". I bet even the Beyer DT990 has more bass. Heck, I bet the Spendor S3/5 speakers formerly known as mine have more bass than the "less bass-light" versions of the R10's.
  3. x2. When you get to the level of equipment wherein burning really matters, you're also getting into the realm of gear that is not really "better" than other gear, but rather "more to one's liking". This will usually lead to improvements as a result of burn-in on well-designed gear (as they finish settling to how they're supposed to sound), but not necessarily.
  4. A friend of mine has Gallo Reference 3.1's for front left and right, I think that's a perfect solution for the "single person sweetspot" problem. They retail at US$3K. Definitely get that woofer amp.
  5. Do those have serial numbers? Is there any way that you know what yours were before the sale? Two sets of phones == potential for a swap, in my mind. And you have an obligation to state feedback, even if it's not entirely negative, that's the whole point of feedback. If he retaliates with anything other than the truth, report his post to a moderator.
  6. There's this invention, I think it's called the Intarwebz. You're on it. WTF?
  7. Spiders on Drugs Stick around until at least 0:50

    magic jack?

Yes, please do, if it works as described, I could definitely use one.
  9. What are they? I mean, I know they're headphones, but...model? ...brand?
  10. The "super power caps" that Nissan is going to be using in their upcoming hybrid electric diesel cars that they'll be using instead of batteries.
  11. No, I wasn't trying to get you to qualify your statement every time you said it, please don't worry about that. In fact, I forgot I said it until I did what I did last time, which was to mentally rename her "sonofabitch" (SOO-kin sin) or "bitch" (SOO-ka) in Russian, and then remembered that I had had that thought before. I think. Either that, or it was just deja vu all over again. No, I wouldn't really. When I had two online pets that I could name myself (the first time I've ever named a pet of any sort), I called them "Turquoise" and "Glass". (They've probably since "died" from lack of being fed or given any attention.) But yeah, it might be fun to name them something weird in a non-native tongue. Like naming a black cat "whitey" in Arabic or a small squat dog "giraffe" in Chinese or something. I think you meant Lady Wilhelmina Fluffy Bottoms III. And: no, that wouldn't be a tough call at all. "Koshka", it is.
  12. "I'm catch-of-the-day." "No, I am catch-of-the-day." "I'll fillet you."
  13. I knew. (I think we've been over this before, though.) It's still a great name. Not as great as 'couch', though.
  14. x2 Jesus Christ those things are even fuglier than the original pic. I mean, unless you're into psychedelics.
  15. I like her, she reminds me (in coloring) of my first cat. Of course, my first cat was a runt, so...there ya go.
  16. Search on "TDS Passive Audiophile" or "passive harmonic restoration". I don't know what it does.
  17. I consider myself fortunate.
  18. I don't think that's a function of the breed, some cats are just like that. Ask Hirsch and Vicki. (I, personally, have never had a particularly talkative cat.)
  19. ^ (What Lies Beneath in 8-bit) -- very cool.
  20. Not to be confused with the TDS Passive Audiophile, which actually does do something to the signal. PS If anyone knows what this circuit is -- AudioAdvisor also sold something that performed "passive harmonic restoration" -- I wouldn't mind knowing what it is, seems like a good starter DIY project. (Not the hoax, though, anyone can solder shit to a wire. I want a circuit that actually does something.)
  21. I might get those stands. I might combine them with the foamy things. I'll have to look into them further. The big selling point for me is that they're open, and you can put things in there -- be they amps, or just miscellaneous crap like boxes of tea -- right now, mine are sitting on reams of paper, which allows for nothing else to be placed there. The Harbeth "house sound" is different from the Dynaudio "house sound". Dynaudio is more "American", whereas the Harbeths are more "British". I've been told I would love the Harbeths, after describing what I would be after in my next set of speakers. I don't know how much the BM5A's follow the Dynaudio "house sound", though, since they're designed as monitors.
