Actually, the DVD-V spec allows for up to 24/96 stereo, and depending on the software you buy, you could burn it that way. But computer -> external DAC -> stereo is a much better solution.

Wouldn't playing a DTS track via digital out, and inputting it into a processor to see if it decodes properly be a good test as well, doesn't DTS require bit-perfection to work?

We need more detail. This isn't a "for" or "against" proposition -- we just want to know if it really is anywhere near as radical a change as going from the D5000 to the R10. Have you ever heard the R10? How much detail does the modded D5000 yield? Is it better than psychoactive drugs? Oh, and welcome to headcase, sorry about your mama.

Are you at CanJam? So go listen to these supposed holy grail R10 phones with bass and tell me if they have more or less bass than how much bass you remember the DT990 having. Stop telling me it has bass, and start telling me how much bass it has (less than the K501, but more than the K1000, that sort of thing), then I'll start believing you.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the whole paradigm is different -- using caps is like using memory that doesn't last from reboot to reboot, so they'll have to be charged up every time the car is run? Unless they use relays or something that guarantees that there is zero leakage current going through when the car is at rest/powered off?
