  1. ipod classic + wadia thing only adds cost to the appletv solution , isn't better in any other way, imho.
  2. Nope Nope That it's limited to 160gb per appletv, unless you hack it, that it's limited to apple supported formats, and that it's apple. You COULD use the new appletv in combination with a mac mini or imac stashed somewhere as a server. Then you can just stash that in a closet somewhere, and your parents wouldn't have to know they have a computer as part of the solution
  3. UE18s, because moar is moar bettar
  4. I dunno, I just know that once it's in place, even my 4 yr old can make it work. And with the itouch, you don't need the monitor.
  5. old style 160gb appletv, load it at your house, then install it at theirs
  6. Another guess: they support them, but don't advertise them.

    meh, too small
  8. I'm not looking for solutions, just expressing that I want apple to include it in the OS
  9. This is the official testing, which I'd never had, so they can make a serum to jab me with weekly until the problem gets better. The last round of testing was the scratch test, and just said I was allergic to oak, and maybe some molds. This round was the needles in the back, and came back with more. So in a month, I start getting shots.
  10. allergy testing, round 2: cats, mold, dust mites, grass
  11. hopefully airplay can use the ipad and ipod/iphone as a destination in addition to as a source...
  12. It has storage, I'm sure, just not for storing media long term.

The new appletv can do it, and I'd imagine it's dead simple. The current one can't, and won't, without doing the equivalent of a jailbreak.
  14. I got a craftsman unit for $99 a couple years ago that would serve your purposes: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00915310000P?prdNo=6&blockNo=6&blockType=G6 That leaves $50 for accessories.
  15. better music?
  16. Instead of looking at "how high can this scale", ask "What is it I think what I have is missing"
  17. they're way better than crack, they're even better than the whole ass...
  18. It's good
  19. There are tag editting software packages. For example, metax and max will edit video and audio tags on the mac. Set the ratings, remove explicit, etc. It's really not that tricky, just requires software. MetaX is part of my dvd-ripping routine. Handbrake to MetaX to iTunes. I'd bet Doug's apple scripts has something, too. As to the "no external media", yah, it's a streaming device. You can use external media, it just has to be in itunes, and be attached to your computer, not to your tv.
  20. You can just turn on parental controls, and set ratings...
