You can do what you seek. Go into airport utility, then to the internet tab. For connection sharing, set it to "Off (Bridged Mode)". It will no longer try and get an ip address from the ISP.

The update from yesterday to issh fixes a key pie issue. You should update and try it.

there's a google group for support, ask iSSH/iX11 | Google Groups I don't use the ssh client much so far, just the vnc interface. But the developer posts a LOT. He's very receptive to questions.

The issh developer is very responsive, and the ability to do vnc over an ssh tunnel is a significant security benefit.
