  1. It's zealotry that's the problem, not one's choice of religion.
  2. It's SO much harder to get banned over there than here. Did you even bother reading your welcome pm? Ah, but over here, we don't put up with the guy who insists on shitting on the sofa. Jeff, time to take control of the head.
  3. What about the timing between that byte and the next one? You're just talking because you like arguing.
  4. You need proof that nfs and samba aren't predictable in their timing? Good god, here's an easily reproducable test: set up your samba server on an 802.11g network, start reading the files on another computer, and then take a third computer and pingflood the nfs server. He's gonna get more than ignored if this keeps up...
  5. I promise you samba and nfs are wrought with timing issues. If what you are doing is timing dependent, then you very much need to avoid network based file access. I believe this is also the problem with ALAC and FLAC support. If you're working with timing sensitive material, adding proccesses that slow things down can cause real problems. yah, fuck you too
  6. I frequently use the trackpad without moving my hands to quickly do something like select text then switch back. Part of why you have trouble imagining it is because you've decided that because of one bad experience, the whole concept must suck...
  7. Because then it's awfully hard to use with the rest of your fingers on the keyboard.
  8. If I did it myself, the odds are much closer to 0
  9. I'd outsource it all
  10. Just need to find someone with a skipjack
  11. I'd be glad to submit a bid to build the data harvester. Given the constraints, and how quickly it will have to run to keep up with Mike and Dinny, I'm thinking maybe $500k deliverable in 3 years.

exactly. I obsess over automatics like you obsess over black.
  15. It's better to use a stepdown or stepup transformer than to fry your equipment. It will be a compromise that may or may not be noticeable. If you were MUCH more specific about what it is you're trying to do, you might get a useful answer.

I own several watches in the under $200 price range that are automatics. But They're not as reliable or accurate as the quartz watches. I just buy automatics because I LIKE automatic and manual watches. If you want something that looks cool and tells good time, there's nothing wrong with a quartz watch. And of course EVERYONE judges people by appearance. That's a key survival characteristic that's been developed for thousands of years.
  19. In high school I managed to cut my thumb with a table saw. I also managed to get just the meaty part, so no long term damage. It was a nasty cut tho, because table saws aren't dainty... I spent my day at kids' sporting events. Thomas's travel hockey team played at 10, and won 8-0, then my daughter's rec league soccer team won 3-0, then this evening, Thomas's junior high team got slaughtered 8-0 (half his team had played 2 games today, and they only have 3 subs total)
  20. I found a rotel RC1090 on ebay for under $400, it's possible another might show up mc/mm, balanced ins and outs, sounds pretty good.
  21. it doesn't actually take long to transition to track pads once you decide you want to. And having a wrist support is a semi-big deal
  22. Mike Baker: Has: x Had: everything else
  23. I can't decide if I want to fly to orlando for my impressions, or wait until canjam
