I'd definitey go with a flash based recorder over minidisc. I don't like atrac as a concept for recording.

My standards for $1000 dacs is pretty high. And the DA10 was beaten soundly by my $110 denon.

I'd say $40 off $229 is a good deal, especially since apple warranties refurbs as new. And $149 for a 40gb appletv is a great deal if you are going to upgrade it.
