  1. Scary shit! Glad you and Allison were unscathed.
  2. Happy Birthday, Peter!
  3. Had grilled sweet corn and burgers for lunch at The Great Pumpkin Patch in Arthur, IL.
  4. Happy Birthday, lain!
  5. Happy Birthday, Gentlemen!
  6. Happy Birthday, Vicki! Don't be such a stranger.
  7. Just finished the first four seasons of Longmire. If you were a fan of Justified, you will probably like Longmire. The first three seasons were better than the fourth IMO, and since the fourth was the first season that Netflix took over I'm not sure how this bodes for the series. Also finished the first season of Dark Matter. SyFy series that can best be described as Firefly meets Total Recall. I liked it a lot.
  8. Sorry for a truly sucky loss, Wayne
  9. I just wanted to thank everyone for your support again this year. It really does mean a lot to both Karen and I. This year will be a little different as I will not be going up to Chicago for logistical support. I will be playing soccer dad this weekend up in Champaign. Karen's sister flew in from NYC to act as my stand-in so everything should be good. Again, thanks to everyone and I will update the thread when the marathon is over.
  10. Belated Happy Birthday, Wayne!
  11. Belated Happy Birthday, Steve!
  12. Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. Nice relaxing day yesterday. I have no classes to teach on Thursdays so I did not even go in. Drove up to Champaign to have the first oil change on the Kia at the dealer. That was the nicest waiting service department waiting room I have ever experienced. Then a nice lunch of Chirashi and Sake. Came home and replaced the high limit thermostat and thermal fuse on our dryer which was very therapeutic. Then a nice pasta dinner and a few beers. All in all a nice day. Oh and by the way The Beard rocks with the birthday images.
  13. Well the problem for me to replace my laptop is also the apps. I do not ever see R being available for IOS. But you have convinced me that once again I am an outlier and for many the iPad Pro will work fine as a Lablet. Oh, and I have also paid more than $9.99 for IOS apps.
  14. I thank you, Karen thanks you and St. Judes thanks you.
  15. Unfortunately, my one can't do without app, will never be on IOS. I guess I will just have to trudge along with the MBA and iPad non-pro.
  16. So I have been researching the iPad Pro since it was announced and I still do not really see the point to the iPad Pro. If I wanted one tablet device to rule them all I would just wait for the Surface Pro 4. A tablet, no matter how big, that is not running a desktop OS will not work as a laptop replacement for me. If I am missing something, please enlighten me.
  17. The Acronis stuff always worked well for me when I was still naive and used Windows.
  18. Looking forward to the second season of Gotham tonight.
  19. Well, actually runs again. Karen is running the Chicago Marathon for St. Judes on October 11, 2015. I actually made a mistake in the year count so this is the eighth straight year she will run it. The total that has been raised over the last seven years has been close to $10,000. As usual, I am a little late in posting this year but if you can donate, that would be great, but well wishes are also very welcome. You can donate at the following link: Click To Donate Thanks for the Support.
  20. Happy Birthday, Tall Man!
  21. Chipmunks are the worst, especially when they decide to nest in your garage.
  22. That would be fine at home but dealing with an academic network would be torture I am not willing to endure at work.
  23. Yeah, the iPad Pro doesn't give me anything I don't already have with my iPad Air (except a bigger screen which is not a plus for me). I still need my MBA to run R. Now if the R geeks get R to run under IOS, that's a completely different ballgame.
  24. Happy Birthday, Jack!
