  10. Yes, but they all have annoying accents.
  11. Ditto. Living in BFN, I've never even considered customs because of the associated back-and-forth. Will think seriously about the universals though if the (good) reviews are good.
  12. If you don't mind ze Chermans, would also look at Stowa, Junghans and Sinn in that price range.
  13. Happy Birthday!
  14. Sorry Larry.
  15. Little South African digression, but behind Churchill in that photo, in the trench coat, is Field Marshal Jan Smuts, who first led the Afrikaners against the English in the Boer War (1899 - 1902) and then went on to serve in the British War Cabinets of both the First and Second World Wars and to be the only signatory to both the peace treaties that ended them. The master of Christ's College, Cambridge -- where he studied law -- once said of him that "in the 500 years of the College's history, of all its members, past and present, only three have been truly outstanding: John Milton, Charles Darwin and Jan Smuts." Which is a pretty decent reference!

  17. Five off the top of my balding head.
  18. Happy Birthday Dinny!
  19. Two more hours of adventures in extreme endodontry. If this tooth ever picks up a radio station, it better be fuckin' streaming 24/192.
  20. Sort of raises the question of what you have to do to get the Gold medal? One for Al here ...
  21. Happy Birthday chaps!
  22. Good choice Posty! Not a fan of round date windows, but they've chamfered it so nicely it turns out to be a plus in the end, I think. The batons are also very well done. Only practical concern would be the long lugs, which are probably soldered to the case. If you whack it on a door jamb -- those may break free. So, you know, don't etc.
