  1. Just remember that everything you buy will at some stage be puked on (and worse) by your little bundle of joy and probably punted across the room by you at least once when it fails to assemble/collapse/function properly. So don't get too dazzled by teh shiny.
  2. Will you guys please shut up? It's been well established that Upgraditis is eminently transmissable over the Internet and I have a severely compromised analog immune system as it is.
  3. Built To Spill -- There Is No Enemy Vinyl. This is a killer album. Every time I listen to it I like it more.
  4. Nice! If he had it on a Continuum table it's probably had an extremely pampered life, too.
  5. ^^^ I am a complete Lloyd Cole diehard, but Easy Pieces is one strange album. Contains both some his best songs and some of his worst. Radiohead -- OK Computer
  6. Happy Birthday!
  7. Happy Birthday. Take pictures!
  8. Needs moar gold bits.
  9. Gryphon Poseidon (single speaker) in Congo Walnut Fantasy Burl.
  10. Snowed in with the kids for a second day. Wind is whipping outside and the chill is well below zero. Looks like I picked the wrong week etc. etc. In Australia!
  11. Yo La Tengo -- Popular Songs
  12. "More Kissing In Porn Please, We're British" is my nominee for song title of the year. Also: Altamont > Quilting Bee. Cool stories, bros.
  13. A couple of my favorites off the top of my head: Dirty Projectors -- Bitte Orca Animal Collective -- Merriweather Post Pavilion toe -- For Long Tomorrow Built To Spill -- There Is No Enemy Fever Ray -- Fever Ray
  14. ^^^ :prettyprincess: Love the way the audience just totally geeks out all around them as they play. So great.
  15. Horace Parlan Quintet -- Speakin' My Piece
  16. Stax today. Stax tomorrow. Stax forever.
  17. There's a big pissing match going on at SH's place about why the Blue Notes weren't remastered to SACD instead. Seems on casual observation that the most fanatical SACD partisans all seem to be Euros. Don't know why that is?
  18. Glad you're enjoying the new table, Deepak! Speaking of speed stability and related issues, I really enjoyed reading this paper from Grand Prix Audio, whose DSP-regulated Monaco TT pretty much takes direct drive to its ultimate contemporary expression. Obviously they're tooting their own horn, but it taught me a lot about the fundamental design issues around LP playback. I also think the Monaco is very beautiful in the simplicity of its form, compared to the incredibly elaborate monster tables it takes aim at. http://www.grandprixaudio.com/Monaco-Turntable-Whitepaper.pdf
  19. Did 10 miles on a stationary bike last night and discovered one thing the Slate will be absolutely great for -- passing time while on a stationary bike. The iPhone/Touch is too small and fiddly to type and surf effectively when you're doing something else that involves even minimal body motion. And unless you built a really trick stand, a laptop obviously isn't feasible either. Might be a bit too much of a niche market for Steve, though. And he probably favors yoga or pilates anyway.
  20. It's snowing again here in New England.
  21. Aww.
  22. I turned 40 last year. Am I still in my 30s? That would be pretty awesome, actually.
  23. Ditto.
