What did you do with the old rims, Jeff? I have a friend that's shopping for a mild upgrade and the Fulcrums migth fit the bill if you were looking to move them. I can't remember if you already posted about keeping them around or not...

We'll see if I care enough to call. Last time I tried to do something like this is severely effed up my acount and almost cost me all the apps that I'd previously bought. I've read stories of similar things happening with this iCloud BS so I'm not sure it's worth the risk.

Damn, Jeff, what do you need a firefly for with that featherweight to ride? And holy shit you ride with a lot of drop for someone who hasn't been doing this for very long.

The next phase will be to built a bench under the rack to make it easier to deal with on/off footwear issues and I'm thinking that I'll integrate a little more storage into the seat with drawers or a tilt up top. I designed the hanger system in Skethup which really helped and I'll need to do the same with the bench to make sure that everything that needs to fit, fits. Gene, damn you and your sandals. It was 6 degrees at the house this morning when I left for work.

No warmup info here, but if you're having knee and back pain it might very well be a fit issue. I know that you've got limited to no access to bike professionals but you might need to find some sort of local resource to help you out.

Jose, This isn't the type of headphone forum where you're going to get the information that you're looking for. Try www.head-fi.org.

Thanks guys. Steve, I haven't exactly figured out what, if any, finish it'll get. The bare pine fits the general aesthetic of the room so I may just leave it but your suggestion definitely has merit and sounds interesting.

I spent the better part of my free time yesterday and today turning the super-annoying, overcrowded mess that was our coat rack and hat/mitten situation in the mud room from this... into this... I'm not much (if any) of a neat freak but the gloves and hat pile that was always falling onto the floor and the jackets piled on jackets making it impossible to get to the one that you wanted without knocking 4 others down was driving me a little crazy. So I did what any self-respecting DIYer would do and built something to fix it. Now everyone has their own hook, along with two spares, and a little bin above their hook to put stuff in. It is not a work of art or cabinetry but it does get the job done while not being fugly. And it was fun to make sawdust again.

Ok, I need Apple help. I've had an Apple ID since the beginning of time and hence, it's not an email address. I do have a verified email associated with the ID. So today a friend sends me a photo stream and I try to access on the ipad. Fucking iCloud won't let me log in. If I use my apple ID it tells me I need an email address ID for iCloud and when I try to use the email associated with my Apple ID it tells me the user ID or password is wrong. So I went to apple.com and logged in and I see that there's an option to change your ID to the email associated with your account but when I try to do that it doesn't work. What the fuck? Seems like there are still tons of issues for folks with non-email apple IDs and the fixes don't work. Any suggestions?

I'm with Dan, iMac for now. Get a decent BT keyboard for the ipad if you don't have one to tide you over.

You have to be a member to see the deal. Do they have enough good deals to warrant joining?

Nice work, Mike. My yard is currently a very monochromatic white.

I can think of far, far better ways to burn $40 in the name of science.

As someone who has suffered with multiple flakey sources I'm very happy for you.

I wouldn't call either of those small or nonsensical. The climb, in particular, sounds like a heck of a goal. I've driven it so I know what you're up against.

I forgot to add that I'd like to do at least one long ride with my older brother. I've got a route mapped out for us in northern NH that's a little under 80 miles with 4700' of climbing or so. Late July, early August would work out nicely from a training perspective.

Agreed, great thread and a good place for us to keep each other motivated and on track. For me: 1. 2,000 road miles. This is going to be tough since I'm not going to count anything ridden on the trainer this winter, just actually ass-on-pavement miles. I have, in a good year, 7 months of productive riding (April - October). 2. 12-18 good MTB rides. I'm hoping to get 1 a week in but that's unrealistic if I'm going to meet goal #1 and not end up divorced. 3. End this season a little faster over longer distances than I did this year. The record this year was essentially 20mph for 20miles. I don't have a target figure in mind. 4. I want to participate in at least one full century, would like to find a metric century for earlier in the season and maybe ride one day of the Trek Across Maine with a coworker. I'd love to do the whole ride but I don't think I'll have the time to commit to something like that this year. 5. Get 5+ pounds under 200. I cracked the 200lb barrier briefly last year, I'd like to do better this time around. I've had a really hard time finding time and energy to work out lately (been sick off and on since early November and so has most of the family) but I seem to be turning the corner on that front and will hopefully be able to get back on the trainer shortly to not lose every bit of strength/endurance I gained last year.

It was rain all night but appears to be changing over to snow now so we'll see what therest of the day holds. The kids are at daycare so we can try to clean up the post Christmas mess (and relax of course).

I transformed the tractor from summer to winter mode in prep for the 6-10" of white bullshit forecast for tonight.

Very nice review, Tyll.

Merry Christmas, Headcase.

Sweet Jebus, Jeff. They're highly regarded from what I've read, which isn't much. My object of lust is one of the titanium lugged, carbon tube bikes that Independent Fabrication makes. We'll see how many miles I manage to put on the Roubaix is year. The goal is 2,000, which is going to be tough but maybe the light will help with that.
