I'm not taking a sharpie to a $500 pair of shoes.

Happy Birthday!

Yesterday I finally started back doing my regular 40km evening ride on the trainer. It felt really good to feel bad. Here's hoping I stick with it this time and continue losing the 35-40lbs I have to re-lose. It's just so easy for me to pack it on and that took about 4 months. I have to actively diet to maintain weight and I know lots of people do (not looking for sympathy but it sucks). I can't wait until I get my new cycling shoes though, I'm really getting tired of these ones. Two years of numb feet is starting to piss me off.

Congrats on the job startup Bryan. I hope you keep enjoying it.

Turns out that they aren't selling them in narrow in the good ol' US of A so I'll be doing a regular it appears
-
You made me lol. I will try not too. I'm not a fan of the look but I tried on another pair of these and it felt like they had been made for my foot. It'll be interesting to see how they work out though because I decided to see if I was a narrow rather than regular foot.

People of all stripes get nervous and try to smooth over screw ups. My most recent favorite (not remotely as serious as Shelly's) is the taxi driver that opened the trunk of his taxi and my my wifes laptop fell out he then put it back in the trunk like it never happened. When I pointed out that it had dropped (I saw the whole thing) and that he should have said "this dropped out when I opened the trunk, sorry" his response was first to deny then to say he did nothing wrong and had no need to apologize. Luckily the laptop was not damaged in any way but it really pissed me off. Unfortunately I had already paid him (with tip) at that point.

Some suitably garish Italian cycling gear: It appears they are not carrying the pure black version in the US so unless I want to pay a lot more for a euro version I guess I'm going to have to live with this as the lesser of two evils and it goes well with my club's kit anyway.

We don't know what flat is for anything. There are standards but they aren't necessarily flat. That said last I looked your head did not have artificial ears in it so all your measurements are off for that reason too. The kemar and head acoustics ones look like they are more accurate as far as loading the headset etc but I get the impression that they are far more expensive than the neumann. The head site has a cool doc about equalization too. None of this is a swipe at your methods just an observation. I think someone at stereophile had one of the artificial ear setups. It would be very cool to see the two compared. Not that I have aes access but this looks interesting: http://www.aes.org/e-lib/browse.cfm?elib=6107 Keep up the good work

Congrats Tyll! Saw that yesterday. Awesome.

Netgear N900 wireless router to replace my 6 month old Zyxel router and access point. Amazing that one router nowcovers my whole house and outside better than the two others. I had even bought 2 different types high gain antennas for the Zyxel that were supposed to increase the range.

That's great that things are going well Shelly! You should tell Todd that the Volcano+Peak combo has healing powers

I was looking at the shimano and Bont Vaypor shoes. If I don't like the ergos I may give the bont a shot because you can do the custom molding yourself. I didn't go with them because I like wearing thicker socks in the winter and I was concerned the fit would be so perfect as to not allow that. They are gaudy as heck in some colors but the diadora shoes are supposed to be really nice too and Evans wears them. As I think I posted earlier my bike tool is carbon.....

Nice. I'm getting sidi ergo 3s once they come in at my shop.... I just want a pair of shoes to fit perfectly. I bought some esoles insoles to try and fix my specialized pro shoes but the company sent the wrong size. I was all excited to try them out today.

Wishing you a speedy recovery Shelly

So right after the last post I bumped my laptop trying to soothe Ben and the encrypted hard drive ate it. No tech support until tomorrow and probably nothing until I am back in the office in 3 days. At least the hard drive passed all the bios based checks so I may not be totally screwed and it should be recoverable.

Went out to lunch in La Jolla, CA with my father in law and wife. All three of us had fish and chips at the place we had been to last time we were there in honor of my mother in law and then a nice walk around down by the water. Even saw not one but two Bugatti Veyrons in stock at a dealer (I'm not sure if the image shows up it's from Facebook and crappy to boot):

VPI are the set you are listening to the new ones or the old design with the patent problems? With universal tips I assume? edit: I see that the tips are universals in the NY meet thread... so I'm guessing it's their marketing pair and hence will be the new format.
