  1. It's almost certainly true looking through all the stories. Their stated goal is to gain access to the high end of the market and the trickle down exclusivity that implies. My guess is they may not change much as far as quality but they may move manufacturing to China. Who knows.
  2. For us it was about 5 working days if I remember right. We had to get it modified 2x because of issues with the lisiting etc.... PITA
  3. Banks have become a massive PITA for mortgages (the mortgage for the lake house was possibly one of the most frustrating things I have ever done) but I think that I rather this than they making a lot of stupid ass loans/taking hughe volume bonuses and then getting bailed out.... just my two cents.
  4. Awesome Shelly!
  5. I bought 8 of them. Only did not buy mine craft and already have SwiftKey x
  6. Hope it works out for you. The current valuations seem awfully overpriced considering historical data and past value spikes.
  7. Happy Birthday!
  8. I have had great luck with my Nikon 70-200 on a Nikon 2X teleconverter. I even did some test pics with a tripod and bill a while back and I was very happy with it: in other words I preferred the loss of sharpness rather than having to crop. It wasn't even close.
  9. The relationship between MIT and Spectral is the sole reason I'm not interested in anything from Spectral...
  10. Happy Birthday!
  11. The oath was no big deal at all. The guy from USCIS gave a short speech, we said the oath and then pledge and then got our certificates. My wife didn't make it so it was a bit of a non-event. I am just glad I'm able to vote and get a clearance to work on some cooler stuff.
  12. Thanks all. It's been a long road. Here's hoping that the department of state comes through in time for my Christmas travel. Good times.
  13. Happy birthday!
  14. Happy birthday!
  15. Became a US citizen. I am looking forward to voting next year.
  16. Happy birthday!
  17. Your experience is exactly what I would expect and reflects my experience as well (well not the input part) but I was just pointing to places where you can hear the differences with apodizing filters (i.e. the listen setting on Ayre players).
  18. Listen to some crappily recorded music. You should hear the difference with clipping etc. Also sometimes the can fix some "sizzle" from cymbals or other highly dynamics sounds poorly downsampled recordings.
  19. We have an Ergobaby with the infant insert. Works well for both me (giant) and my wife (normal sized woman). I think we'll get a babybjorn in the long run because the ergo is only facing towards you and Ben seems to like to look at the world.
  20. Happy Birthday!
  21. Sounds more impressive than it was. I wasn't good and/or dedicated enough.
  22. Congrats on the progress Shelly! Yesterday I booked a trip out to Michigan for work to meet with the Prof I will be working on some statistics and prediction papers with. Much to my surprise my customer thinks that the work is worth funding and is paying. I hope this is fun as I basically get to rant about stupid things I've seen people do and ask questions and then the two students go off and answer the questions/confirm/refute my positions yet I don't have to pay for anything. Today I found more stupid errors in the code I work on day to day. It's always nice to see people entirely disregard specification documents that other people spent months validating. They make me want to punch things. Finally had a long talk with my wife and I think rather than buy a new larger vehicle for the 2 or 3 times a year that my or her family is in town and want to go to the lake house we are going to keep our paid off cars and rent a minivan when needed. This will of course give me an excuse to finally get a roof rack for our Civic but will save us a crapload over a new Honda Odyssey. We'll re-evaluate in a year or two. One plus also is this may free up money for a boat for fishing at the lake house instead
  23. Cool. I was trying to go to the Olympics in Finns and did a lot of sailing but that's behind me these days. Thought I'd want to get back into it once I had a kid but even then I really don't. The $260 was for the oakleys with the photochromatic lenses so I was doing apples to apples. I should have been clearer. To each their own but I will never wear anything Livestrong.
  24. Happy birthday Gene!
