  1. Got up at 4am to feed/change Benjamin (which was awesome, made me feel a whole lot less useless). I then went to work where back to feeling useless because I have not managed to find work for best or second best guy (issues with export control and not having a green card) and we are going to have to lay him off. Totally f'ing sucks because he's very good, very hard to replace and just had a second kid about a month before me. @Jim: Feel young @Shelly: I hope you can fit the surgery in and get it fixed, your health is more important than conferences @Brent: Really glad they caught it. Sounds serious.
  2. My wheels fell through.... they were damaged when the guy showed up to drop them off Oh well.
  3. I think I may next year but I've switched to the Prism Orpheus. The manufacturer has come out and said that the Orpheus is their best technically performing DAC which is funny since it's also their cheapest and has 8 in and 8 out.... Digital Preamplifier anyone? If I sell what it's replacing I may be able to convince my wife.
  4. Nice plan there Al. Rolling things into a remodel is good Wife-Approval-Fu I snuck some lawn equipment in when we bough the lake house under the same premise. Your sweet purchases have me looking at the Prism DA-2 again..... you inspire me to go crazy. Not going to happen though, I need a new car.
  5. Happy birthday Sir! I hope you have a great one.
  6. Nice work Al!
  7. Happy Belated Birthday!
  8. With how they are set up (at least here in VA) the earlier you start with the prepaid plans the more expensive they are but they sort of go in 5 year windows. As of right now It would be around 52k for 4 years of in-state tuition at any of Virginia's schools which I am pretty convinced is going to be much less than college in 18 years considering how much the price of college has been inflating over the last 20 years. Even if it isn't and school is free or our kid doesn't get in (he better ) then we can at least get our money back as it's a risk free account. A quick back of the envelope using 18 years comes out with a 5.6% rate of return on the investment which is pretty damn good.
  9. Lol fair enough. Just some used Mavic Ksyrium Elites for my oldest bike to replace the stock POS wheels. I have another set that I have used on that bike before and it was truly night and day improvement in ride quality and the price was right to upgrade that bike. That bike is 9 speed Shimano but otherwise I ride SRAM. I don't think I will ever switch. It works great and identically in the three different levels I have of it. On a side note the purchase was a bit ill timed wife wise due to the start of saving up to do a one time purchase for my son's college education. Prepaid plans rule but the price difference between paying over time and lump sum is steep here in VA at over 7.5% apr.
  10. Another set of wheels for my lake house bike.
  11. Happy Birthday!
  12. I think I am going to make an honest effort to do this next year (if it's happening next year?).....
  13. Happy Birthday!
  14. Happy Birthday Boomy!
  15. There's a moonshine they have in the Caribbean called "Jack Iron" that's 90+%, ice doesn't float in it. I think I have some... Edit: Pics are cool. Jealous but glad I'm at home.
  16. Congrats. That's good news!
  17. At 10k they better be impressive
  18. Happy Belated Birthday. I hope you had a great one!
  19. If it's sending the same signal to all 3 drivers and just letting the passive component for each driver take care of it what's the point of the 3 amps in the first place? I really doubt this is the case because they quote different EQ for different settings on the box. I guess time will tell. Hopefully more clarity will arrive soon.
  20. Not quite the same as a dac with an equalizer and phase corrector since each channel is corrected with its own separate channel which makes it a lot easier and probably makes sure it's done better but yes you have a point.
  21. Feel better Larry. Sorry for your loss Wayne.
  22. Where would one track such a mower down? Craigslist?
  23. Point taken. It's about .75 acres with a bunch of trees drainage ditch to do too. If I could find a commercial walk behind like yours then I would prefer that.
