  1. Listen to some crappily recorded music. You should hear the difference with clipping etc. Also sometimes the can fix some "sizzle" from cymbals or other highly dynamics sounds poorly downsampled recordings.
  2. We have an Ergobaby with the infant insert. Works well for both me (giant) and my wife (normal sized woman). I think we'll get a babybjorn in the long run because the ergo is only facing towards you and Ben seems to like to look at the world.
  3. Happy Birthday!
  4. Sounds more impressive than it was. I wasn't good and/or dedicated enough.
  5. Congrats on the progress Shelly! Yesterday I booked a trip out to Michigan for work to meet with the Prof I will be working on some statistics and prediction papers with. Much to my surprise my customer thinks that the work is worth funding and is paying. I hope this is fun as I basically get to rant about stupid things I've seen people do and ask questions and then the two students go off and answer the questions/confirm/refute my positions yet I don't have to pay for anything. Today I found more stupid errors in the code I work on day to day. It's always nice to see people entirely disregard specification documents that other people spent months validating. They make me want to punch things. Finally had a long talk with my wife and I think rather than buy a new larger vehicle for the 2 or 3 times a year that my or her family is in town and want to go to the lake house we are going to keep our paid off cars and rent a minivan when needed. This will of course give me an excuse to finally get a roof rack for our Civic but will save us a crapload over a new Honda Odyssey. We'll re-evaluate in a year or two. One plus also is this may free up money for a boat for fishing at the lake house instead
  6. Cool. I was trying to go to the Olympics in Finns and did a lot of sailing but that's behind me these days. Thought I'd want to get back into it once I had a kid but even then I really don't. The $260 was for the oakleys with the photochromatic lenses so I was doing apples to apples. I should have been clearer. To each their own but I will never wear anything Livestrong.
  7. Happy birthday Gene!
  8. Here's what I use ($61 vs $260 Oakley):
  9. We got the Peg Perego Pliko Switch Compact Modular Travel System with car seat, stroller base, stroller seat, bassinet and bassinet stand. It is the awesome and works great for us (folds small and is compact for our city lifestyle). Ben is still sleeping in the bassinet in our room though that's going to change soon:
  10. The Tifosi work really well and respond pretty quickly. I've never had much of an issue but I don't ride in conditions that dangerous often. The Oakley stuff is probably a bit faster but I can buy like 5 pairs for the same price. I can't see any CA or other optical issues with them at all and they hold on to my face well even when I'm wearing winter hat under my helmet. Years of being a sailor (where how good your optics are doesn't matter because they are getting salt on them) has made me agnostic to high end glasses for sports. That said I want Oakley Jawbones with the photochromatic lens.... Will not be getting them as I rather get a new helmet or something.
  11. Cool. I gave up on Oakley a while ago for riding and just use the photocromatic Tifosi glasses. They aren't probably as perfect as oakley's but I can by a new pair for less than the cost of lenses.
  12. Phot With the photocromatic lenses? If so let inquiring minds know how they work out.
  13. Happy Birthday!

  16. Looking good CJ. Isn't "really really liking" someone grand me: Figured out prepaid education pricing. Tonight I'm going to have to start brushing up again for my citizenship test in a week and getting all my passport forms etc sorted out as well.
  17. Rode 40 miles or so in the glorious weather in a shop ride. Then had a nice late lunch at Bertucci's. Now off to church with my wife for the first time in over a year. Feels good together back riding and we'll see about church.
  18. Good luck!
  19. Happy birthday! Have a great one.

Win. Not picking on Larry but that behavior pisses me off. Recently went riding with a guy on a $6k+ bike that was bitching about the $60 USA Cycling membership fee.....
  21. Not even gitzo? I have one of theirs and it is awesome. The rrs ball head is supposed to be the best though. I have the kirk.
  22. Lightroom 3 to see how things have improved since version 1
  23. Nice Jim!
  24. Glad your hip is doing well. Did a 3+hr grouip ride (3000 cal+) in the morning on 2 bottles of Gatorade, a Gu and a breakfast bar. That was a swift kick in the nuts with a lot of climbing. I did not eat anything on my return (saving up for turkey). Around 5pm we ate turkey and stuffing. Still going to put on a ton Happy Thanksgiving All!
