  1. Spent the day taking care of Ben by myself for the first time (Meaghan had to go to California for a family emergency). Going well so far. Fun times.
  2. Road bike then. Can't wait to see what you pick.
  3. Electrical tape will fix that!
  4. What are you thinking mike? I have a Cannondale Slice TT/Triathlon bike that's very good and very fast for the money, that said a road bike with TT clip on bars may be a better option if you're ever going to be riding in groups etc.
  5. Brooks saddles also have the added advantage that you can explain to people why the cycling announcers on TV say the guy is "on the rivet" when someone is sitting forward on the saddle and pounding like hell on the pedals....
  6. A place for you Vinyl junkies to store your remote/keys/whatever: http://hipcycle.com/housewares/vinyl-record-bowl.html
  7. You're right! I forgot I was too cheap to apply to more. Sorry about that. Most everyone at my school just did the 3. I did U of T, Waterloo and Queen's and ended up at Queen's. I got in to U of T and Queens for sure, not sure about Waterloo (I think I got in). One thing I do particularly remember is that Queen's sent a single page letter in a small envelope to let me know I was in and I was shitting myself because it was a "small envelope". I loved it there, ended up loving Univ of Michigan more but I think that it was close to perfect for me for undergrad.
  8. When I was graduating HS in Ontario Canada (I went to a year of private school up there to get a bit older) I was only allowed to apply to 3 schools (them's the rules in Ontario) so I did. I believe I got into all 3 but I can't remember for sure if it was just 2 of 3. Oh and I did apply to MIT and got turned down. They did the same for grad school too. Pretty funny to me in the end and shows how arbitrary the whole thing is. I to this day take particular pleasure in correcting MIT grads/professors. Petty I know.
  9. I get Amazon stuff through Lasership all the time with no issues. I hope it's the same for you.
  10. Happy birthday!
  11. Yay for bike purchases! Be careful with moving it back as that can lead to knee/IT band issues (it does for me). You may want to consider a seat with a cutout because they help some people. I use a specialized with a cutout. Antonio: Congrats on the phones.
  12. X2
  13. Funnily enough so do I. I'm sort of over my specialized but probably not until next year. Next thing is wheels as my deal for the other ones fell through because they were damaged (crack in rim not something cosmetic).
  14. One doesn't even need to hook up a scope: the headphone is creating sound. This represents energy. Energy comes from work, the time derivative work of is power. QED.
  15. He is quoting Frank Cooter....
  16. me too.
  17. If you do buy let us all know. I'm interested but not $400 interested. Good overview here: http://www.engadget....hands-on-video/
  18. Got up at 4am to feed/change Benjamin (which was awesome, made me feel a whole lot less useless). I then went to work where back to feeling useless because I have not managed to find work for best or second best guy (issues with export control and not having a green card) and we are going to have to lay him off. Totally f'ing sucks because he's very good, very hard to replace and just had a second kid about a month before me. @Jim: Feel young @Shelly: I hope you can fit the surgery in and get it fixed, your health is more important than conferences @Brent: Really glad they caught it. Sounds serious.
  19. My wheels fell through.... they were damaged when the guy showed up to drop them off Oh well.
  20. I think I may next year but I've switched to the Prism Orpheus. The manufacturer has come out and said that the Orpheus is their best technically performing DAC which is funny since it's also their cheapest and has 8 in and 8 out.... Digital Preamplifier anyone? If I sell what it's replacing I may be able to convince my wife.
  21. Nice plan there Al. Rolling things into a remodel is good Wife-Approval-Fu I snuck some lawn equipment in when we bough the lake house under the same premise. Your sweet purchases have me looking at the Prism DA-2 again..... you inspire me to go crazy. Not going to happen though, I need a new car.
  22. Happy birthday Sir! I hope you have a great one.
  23. Nice work Al!
  24. Happy Belated Birthday!
