I should be clear that this is the first "real" internet available in the area (it's BFN basically). No Fios. It's dial-up (no), aircard/hotspot (5gb/month?), or HughesNet (400mb/month WTF?) and that's it so this is very good news. I have no desire for TV down there other than the occasional movie hence the netflix etc.

Today I found out that Comcast will be bringing cable based high speed internet service to the lake house on 9/6/11 which is good news in that it means that we'll be able to get Netflix streaming going and work effectively from down there. On the negative side it also means that we will be able to work down there and I won't be able to finally justify a dedicated mobile hotspot. Now to remove the stupid satellite dishes.

I second the Google recommendation. It would support everything you want to do in slightly modified form (set up user group for the group emails and administrator account that forwards etc). That is unless you must have it perform exactly as in the original post which of course you can pay for I guess. Seems dumb to not modify your requirements to me.

Good point. I'm going to stick with the trusty D200 for now though I would love to upgrade in the future for some better high iso performance to get shutter speeds up.

I am going to force myself not to play with one of those as I'm going to want one.... That plus adapter plus some long sony glass and you'd have a awesome bird setup for "cheap"

Congrats Ric and Melissa! Drove down to lake house to drop off car load of furniture boxes that arrived today and check for any quake related issues. I then realized I forgot the key just as I pulled in at around 9pm. Luckily my realtor who has an office about 30 min away still had one so my 3 hour trip only became a 4.5 hour trip.

Just realized my new lake house is near to the epicenter. It's going to be a long night of driving....

Was in downtown dc in a basement parking structure. Pretty good shake. Traffic sucked when I left.

Closed on the lake house and then did a bunch of repairs and bought a lawn mower.

Did a "final" walthrough on the house and the current owners idea of fixing everything is half-assing everything apparently, now it's down to how much he owes us I think.

Hope things start improving Brent! That sounds truly crappy.

Got up, walked dog, went on a great ride (found out that electrolytes are awesome for me), went furniture shopping which took forever because of the incompetence of the salesperson. Qdoba for dinner )

A house worth of furniture to be delivered on Friday Our house will be entirely setup by next weekend other than the stuff we want to do outside and some pots/pans

I wouldn't worry about that (really) they are a big player in pro audio even if they have a unpolished web presence. Their stereo96 I tried out was awesome.

I'm pretty intrigued by the new Mytek offering that takes DSD. Any thoughts?
