  1. 2 of these: Item # 12.0010, Plano Concave Lenses on Rolyn Optics 10 Loose Balls 1/4" = 6.35mm Ceramic G5 SiC:Ball Bearings:VXB You could call them black oysters
  2. 2 plano-concave lenses and a good quality ball bearing? Plano-concave lens, standard grade http://rolynoptics.thomasnet.com/viewitems/simple-lenses/plano-concave-lenses?&forward=1 Glass should be plenty hard enough and the lens will have no hard spots. Would look pretty cool.
  3. Congrats Naaman!
  4. My pico slim preorder....
  5. You know what you're right. I was thinking that because it was ratios of sound wave amplitudes the other one applied like it does for current or voltage. Oh well. That said they're bigger than anything you'll see with a cable, balancing and/or changes between any low output impedance amp that I've measured. I think output impedance is probably the biggest single driver of the "tonal balance" of amplifiers. RSA has a high output impedance for just this reason. Also note that 1dB is most certainly noticeable for anyone over time, just try it with your various EQ's you're working on. Scientists don't bitch fight, well at least this one doesn't. When he's wrong he admits it.
  6. Happy Birthday!
  7. Not when you're multiplying by a sensitivity to get the dB sound output amplitude per mW (or at least that's my understanding)
  8. Missed this before. As a counterpoint the ER4-P to S adapter is just a resistor and significantly modifies the tonal balance of the headphones.
  9. So what do you define as a bass boost? What frequency and impedance? The first number I gave was the power consumption relative to nominal at 100hz but I guess I should have used the relative audio output. That still comes out to 1.5dB for me at 100hz (1200 Ohm). Maybe I've done it wrong again: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Ag41ab-9FY1KdFhwVnEtQkUwbTNEUFVKdjh1TXJYbnc&hl=en
  10. Thanks for the further reply Next waste of money: TT bike....
  11. I use the ER4S which have even less bass and I personally find the bass just about right. It is statements about how the JH13 has more bass and comparisons to the O2 which personally make me worried that I would like the JH13. I am a guy who prefers the 4070 to the O2 (I never owned the 4070 but got to use them in my setup for a few hours and there was no doubt I preferred them). Oh how I hated the SE530s and the Westone 3's were even worse.
  12. Dude that sucks, good luck finding him. My wife and I went through a week of "lost cat" ourselves; ours finally showed up when we put food out for her (within like 5hours).
  13. Yeah that seems to be the story from most people. I use IEMs for work and now I am thinking of switching to over-ear closed phones with my AE-2 to make taking them off easier etc. because as I rise higher more and more people are bugging me all the time. If I do that I will have no use beyond travel for my IEMs: My wife hates when I have my IEMs in at home and can't hear her if she calls, riding with them is a massive fail (I use speakers on the trainer). That leaves pretty much no real use in my life as of right now. I'm still planning on getting a Slim and probably a Zune HD to go along with it so if that reignites my IEM passion I may start taking a look again.
  14. I'm not buying them. I'm waiting to see how long this particular love affair lasts. I can easily afford them but I'm really happy with my ER4s.
  15. a tow hitch for my Civic so I can get a hitch mounted bike rack for it to replace my plastic rack. It gets installed next week.
  16. Tyll, thanks for letting me know. I figured that that would be the answer. Oh well Sorry buddy, I'm a bit too loaded up to pull the numbers down by hand with a ruler but I think this would be good too.
  17. Sorry to hear about your knee Nate and your eye Knuckles. Me: I stayed home to meet the electrician who finally fixed some of the "mysteries" in the switches around the house. I could have done it myself but it's better to know it's done right
  18. I disagree that 120 is a negligible number compared to 600ohms. I've looked at this in the past (even getting it wrong once ) so using the same basic technique as here (Best Amp to stick between DAC1-USB and HD-650 - Page 6 - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio) I did the numbers for the T1 and a 120ohm output impedance should lower the bass curve by around 4 dB which is a bit I would say and would certainly clear up some of the bass mismatch between the T1 and the HD800. Edit: If I could get the FR and Z chart data I could even make up a spreadsheet that plots the modified FR vs output impedance if you'd like.
  19. Yeah I have no problem with Beyer deciding to stick to the 120Ohm standard but I think that they need to include an "adapter" for phones that cost as much as T1's do. Also I think that Beyer is pretty shaped by their home market and as I understand it, in Germany they have lots of 120Ohm amps.

  21. Exactly....
  22. Not Windows 7, Windows Mobile 7: Windows Phone 7 Series: everything you ever wanted to know -- Engadget That said everyone I've talked to that uses Windows 7 says the usability is excellent and a great improvement over Vista so I'm surprised with the above statement. As far as Zune vs Touch there are many people that feel your way and there are many that feel the other way but either way the UI isn't "standard" Microsoft. I was just pointing out that Microsoft has been trying new things recently.
