  5. man I miss having a machine shop to use. me: Misc bike shit for my wife's triathlon bike so it will be all setup for her first Olympic distance triathlon tomorrow.
  6. spent the day (and most of last night) modifying my thesis work to output pressures and velocities for waves. I'm stoked to be working on this stuff again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9897Y4bqyPg The new Intel compiler is awesome. Currently geeking out.
  7. You guyr discussion peaked my interest so I learned from here:Gilmer Wood Company Species Page apparently Wenge can be called "Pallissandre". That said I don't think we should be making shit from critically endangered trees:Wenge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. That said African Pallisander apparently can also be known as Madagascar rosewood and is available here: http://www.hearnehardwoods.com/xcart/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=147
  8. Probably about the same. I would guess it's using the exact same circuit as the DEQ looking at the price point. This is a guess. I very much like my DEQ2496 and I'm never going to get rid of it. I can't hear the difference between it and my $2000+ Bel Canto DAC thought I know the BC tests better so I keep it around.
  9. Yup. Here's the story: Nation News - Home
  10. This is I am sure what happened in this case. I'd never heard the story but apparently a similar thing happend with my Dad a long time ago and he shot out a window (and doesn't own guns anymore). I am not looking for a gun thrash. Just on my mind.
  11. Be careful with the gun loading. Friend of the family just shot through his hand and killed his 11 year old while cleaning his gun. Bad times
  12. Congrats to both of you. I spend the morning in a 5 hour meeting discussing technical issues. That was great. I miss doing technical work. Well if my wife's interviews with Google keep going well then maybe I'll miss doing work entirely....
  13. Sweet we cyclists will slowly take over
  14. I think the fine would be more than getting the tree removed
  15. Got up at 5:30am and went out to help out at my clubs local bike race that I wasn't competing in. On my return home I went out in the back yard and took a careful look at our black walnut tree to find several large dead branches that will need to be taken down. Hopfully this is cheaper than the last $2000 pruning 2 years ago but I seriously doubt it. All the stuff is over neighbors yards so the dick in me wants to ask them to pay for it but that doesn't feel right. Looks like our $300/yr of ground injected tree fertilizer is worth shit. For all I know the they didn't even do the tree in the back as the one in the front is doing great and they sort of did the job guerrilla style and I wasn't there to supervise in the fall. Man I hope this tree doesn't die under our watch it will be a gigantically costly PITA to remove.
  16. A new bike helmet (Specialized S-Works)
  17. Glad to see you made it safely. Good luck and keep safe!
  18. Yeah our house is currently pretty much "done". I redid the weatherstripping on the front door and mulched the beds so now I'm all set. I even figured out that the only problem with the back screen door that has been driving me nuts for years was that the lock mechanism needed lubing. It's a very nice feeling to have nothing on my list other than touch up painting which I just keep putting off because I don't really care. Had friends over last night for burgers in the back yard. It was sweet.
  19. Congrats on the house. Good luck with the home inspection.
  20. Good luck!
  21. Did a sprint session with my team. I'm just not competitive this year.... I'll get 'em next year.
  22. Happy Birthday
  23. I don't think it was the rotors fault really I've driven the car very hard sometimes and I like breaking hard in general. Mine appears to have larger than normal (for a Subaru) vented (not cross drilled) rotors. As said above I appear to have driven it too hard over the years of enjoying my 2.5 Turbo. I saw the front rotors when they were trying to machine them. They were totally warped.

    Rubber Feet

I just now put some pennies under my spikes I had been using some rubber feet for furniture but the spikes worked their way through to my floor in a couple spots. This now should survive the onslaught.
