  1. Doesn't Patrick82 have a lot of experience with those two?
  2. Sorry, blew it did I. Late now for edit not happen be moar not said less.
  3. Yes, the 1/8" output of the MS16 is amplified, and apparently it makes your MDR-V6 sound better. You already had the answer to that without posting here, and now they'll punish you for that. Welcome to head-case, and sorry about your dignity.
  4. That's a good price, although the $17 ground shipping does take a bite out of the savings. Be sure to watch the suicide girls "guide to living" instructions on preparing absinthe,
  5. I gave up my K1000 for my LCD-2, and wishing maybe I had a 507 now. The LCD-2 is uncomfortable, which hurts my enjoyment a lot, although I've gotten used to the sound signature. After a source change and tube change in my WA6, the LCD-2 sound much better than when I first got them. But I like the SR-Lambda and LNS so much, and sometimes I think I enjoy them better. My son won that WEE at RMAF and so we sold his SR-Lambda for an SR-Lambda Nova Signature because he needed a pro bias phone. The LNS sound really good with the WEE through a 12 watt Nuforce Icon, or the WES. They are the closest I've heard to my SR-Lambda, and less bright/etched than I recall my old normal Signature being. I think we made a very good decision. I actually prefer the LNS over my Smegma Pro (woodied gamma pro with SR-007 pads).
  6. Even with owning the O2 Mk1, which beat all my other phones, I still find the SR-Lambda and SR-5 gold edition to be exciting and engaging to listen to. With the O2 you'll find them more demanding of a strong amp, but once you give them what they want they'll make you very happy.

  8. Those would fit our Subaru Impreza 2.5RS - Hmmm...
  9. Well, the wifey returned the Nook Color without opening it to try it out, because she's perfectly happy with reading on the iPhone and not having to carry around a second device for books. She says if she really needs a bigger screen then she'll just use the B&W nook that we already have (with a case that has a built-in light). We then went out and bought her some nice clothes that she can wear to work, using the refund. Sigh.... Why do women have to be so practical?
  10. For me it's more of an issue of the slick iPad slipping through the fingers if used without a case. The Apple case gives me a good grip on it, and I use it one handed all the time.
  11. I find that with using the Apple iPad case it's much easier to hold one handed. I can trap a finger between the case flap and the iPad, and squeeze it tight to keep it from slipping.
  12. I think it's garden gnomes.
  13. How does this site double post when you click submit only one time?
  14. I bought the wife a Nook Color for this Xmas. While she liked the nook from last Xmas she didn't like the lack of a backlight, and she's been reading nook books on her iPhone for the past few months. Old habits die hard and after reading on the iPhone for so long whenever she goes back to the old nook she keeps trying to tap on the B&W screen or pinch to zoom. And with her aging eyes she has the text on the iPhone so big that there's maybe only 30-40 words on a page, which means a lot of page turns. She really needs a bigger screen. I played with the Nook Color at Best Buy and I think it's perfect for her - it's fairly speedy and the display is as good as my iPad for reading books. Plus she doesn't want or need an iPad and this costs half as much. We'll likely hang onto the original nook, but I'm pretty sure she'll take to the new one like a duck to water.
  15. Sony BDP-S570 3D Wifi Bluray player. Now all we need is a 3D TV, but haven't convinced my wife that the 6 year old Sony rear projection 42" LCD needs replacing yet...
  16. Great football play - iPhone link:
  17. General Altimax Arctic winter tires for the G35x (my Michelin all seasons are quite sticky in the other 3 seasons). I have the same tires on the Subaru Impreza RS that my daughter drives, and they rock on ice and snow (her BFG Traction TA for summer are worse on snow than my Michelins). The Blizzaks I had on my previous STI were only slightly better.

  19. I know you guys are aware that portable amps aren't only good for using on public transit and walking around, and that we use them in laptop rigs, bedside rigs, office rigs, transportable rigs, and more. In many of those cases it's nice to have something that can drive a full size phone when the desktop rig is not nearby.
  20. Some people call that "feeling negative pressure" when the "consistent" noise is missing. It leaves a hole in the environmental envelope. I tested my ANC7 and they only remove ambient droning environmental noise, but I still hear the TV and conversations around me.
  21. Yeah, I don't hear any noise at all, but my Amphora hisses a lot.
  22. I think the noise cancelation works better with droning constant noise like engine and road noise, or a window air conditioner. I seem to recall that it doesn't work as well with music and conversation entering the headphones from the outside, which can intrude more easily although they are reduced to a smaller degree. I think that an IEM with isolation would be better to block out the noisy gym music. I'll pull out my ANC7 tonight or tomorrow and give it a try with the TV turned up and see how much it helps.
  23. Aside from all the marketing terminology, the SR-71b at RMAF sounded great with the balanced LCD-2. Feel free to claim marketing BS if you see it, but I think it's the end result that is most important. A few other head-casers have heard the SR-71b prototype and I think they would agree that it's very good with the right headphones. The HD800 were still a little bright with it, but the LCD-2, HD600, ES5 and JH13Pro all sounded great with it. I wish I had tried the HE-5 LE and HE-6 with it, but there was too much to see at RMAF to spend more time on this. From my listening I don't think the power claims are unfounded, and I recall being told it will run 2-3 days on a charge at 8 hours a day which is not too bad for the sturdy power output. Some people will choose to use it as a desktop replacement and leave it plugged in most of the time to use with full size phones in their bedside or computer rig. Certainly if the iBasso amp is good sounding then people can choose that one instead for a lower price. In my case I have several adapters to use the Protector with IEM and full size phones, and I don't want to re-terminate them all to switch to iBasso - at least not before I get to hear one for myself. Since my son won a WEE at RMAF I happened to have a spare eXStatA amp that I was able to sell to help pay for this one. If I hear the iBasso and like it more, then I'll sell the SR-71b and use the proceeds to buy the iBasso and re-terminate all my cables at that point.
  24. Sorry, I left out a critical comma - it should have said: "25 days of Christmas, free music from Amazon"
  25. 25 days of Christmas free music from Amazon http://www.amazon.com
