  1. Bacon drawers?
  2. I had a similar experience getting that email this morning. He's quite the pitch man!
  3. Luckily, I just bought Claire the old style for a lot more than that.
  4. Happy birthdays Wayne and Steve! Cheers!
  5. Argh. Sorry about the job, Ken.
  6. Feel better Grahame.
  7. Sorry for the annoying illness, Shelly, but a little clean vodka with your OJ can only help, imho. I would love to see the Cardinals overtake the stupid Braves and get the wild card. Go Cards!
  8. Harvest CD that I think I bought from Deepak^. The SR-009 were made for this. Perfect and beautiful.
  9. Claire made spaghetti squash, sausages and salad for a sibilant but very tasty dinner.
  10. Super yum, actually. And the second one is even better!
  11. Bonal & Rye with Napoleon
  12. This again.
  13. "Yes, yes, those are 6 new bottles in the bar!"
  14. What's the middle drawer, Mike?
  15. This is true. I had an Alpha for 12+ years and other than some zipper issues due to overstuffing it held up incredibly well. When there were issues, I brought it into the shop and they sent it to Tumi and it got fixed for free. I have a newer Alpha and it is just as solid and if anything the zippers are stronger. Not sure about the warranty, but I am guessing Jeff is right that it has been limited.
  16. But we already know she's Wonder Woman.
  17. Cointreau is great in lots of other drinks...
  18. That pic makes me sad, Shelly, as I sit eating a re-heated bowl of the same pasta I had re-heated last night. Nicely done, Chef Shelly! To advance science and help out Marc, I have been conducting Margarita Mixing Experiments tonight, ably assisted by Claire. Given the recent addition of Mandarin Napoleon into our Liqueur Lexicon, Marc was wondering how it fared in 1-1-1 Margaritas. I decided it was best to do a comparison, so I chose the obvious, Cointreau, plus Clement Creole Shrubb. The first round was made with equal parts of Fortaleza Reposado, fresh lime, and each of the three liqueurs. Claire and I agreed that the Cointreau was the easiest to eliminate. It was the most bland, but probably the most tart if you like that kind of thing. The Creole Shrubb is excellent and flavorful with a bit of sweetness. The Napoleon was very flavorful but I think there was a weird interaction with the tequila. I tasted it as an herbal edge but Claire thought it was more of a rind or oil kind of thing. Either way, it was interesting but not my favorite. Next, I thought that the blanco might be worth trying so I made a couple of small ones with the Shrubb and the Napoleon. The differences were smaller, but the same overtones were there. I think that the blanco meshed better with the Napoleon, but the next Margarita I make will be with the Shrubb regardless of the tequila. That said, the Napoleon has worked very well in the other cocktails I have made and is very tasty on its own.
  19. I'll let Mikey speak for himself but to me the 009 is more resolving than the 4070, which was a surprise, and yet adds an airy openness to the sound in comparison. The clarity of the 009 is that remarkable. The 4070 is probably more flat/neutral than the 009, by a hair, and its sound signature falls somewhere between the 007 and the Omega/009, leaning more toward the latter two.
  20. Happy birthday! Cheers
  21. Welcome back Grahame. 14th C. Mayberry would have dinosaurs, right?
  22. Nicely done ast! I still have a Lagavulin 18 that you donated to one of our last get-togethers. What do you think of the 009?
  23. Nice layered Rainbow Marc! Well done! I thought I already posted the third rep but booze, and Mikey and my niece dropping by with her in-laws threw me off. The last of the BrewDogs was the Smokehead and Mikey provided an Ardbeg and a Lagavulin (both new bottles!!) to pair with it. Although very nice it did not have the perfect synthesis that the Mordlach combo was sporting. Super tasty nonetheless and I managed a dram of the Single Malt Whisky Society Macallan that Mikey had in his box of wonders. Awfully tasty stuff and a wonderful way to spend a sunday afternoon.
  24. It would be so awesome if you guys were here too! It is a weird day in Mayberry with rain in the morning, funk in the midday and now sun and humidity in the afternoon. We are listening to the Nate-built BHse and hangin' our cans on Steve-built stands and have talked about both of you in the process. This darn country of ours is too big for its (or our) own good sometimes! Wish you were here fellas. Thanks man. Just so you don't fret, the shades are almost always down in this corner and the only stats that don't have a box for storage are the "lowly" Lambda Sigs.
